Chances for Princeton Early Action?

Hi, I’m new to this site! I’m a high school junior right now, and I want to apply early to Princeton. Here’s my statistics:

GPA: 4.0 (unweighted)
Rank: #1
Race: Asian
Gender: Female
School Type: small, new charter (there’s only about 20 students in my grade)
Income Bracket: 70K
Prospective Major: Chemical Engineering, maybe?

SAT: 2400
SAT II: Probably will take Math II and Chemistry
APs: Statistics (5), US Government (5), Calculus AB (5), Chemistry (5), Computer Science A (5), English Language (5), Macroeconomics (5), Microeconomics (5), World History (5)

Junior Year Classes:
AP Calculus BC (I know a lot of people don’t take Calc AB, but my school forces us to take both exams)
AP Biology
AP Physics 1
AP US History
AP English Literature
AP Music Theory
AP Psychology
Mandarin IV (I didn’t try to take this as an easy class; I’m not entirely fluent)

Next year, I’ll probably only be taking post-AP classes, and I’ll have to do a senior research project to graduate with honors.

ECs:
Science Bowl
Math Club - The only competition we ever did was the AMC, and I got an 87 on AMC 12B this year (I know it’s not very good)
Youth Symphony - I’m assistant principal cellist.
Music Club - I started this club at my school, and I arrange music for the group to perform in school concerts. I’m also president.
Church Youth Group

Volunteering/Job Experience:

  • I teach cello lessons at a low cost to some middle schoolers.
  • I volunteered for six months at my church’s daycare.
  • I also volunteer as a tutor at my school (since ninth grade).
  • I volunteered at my local library for three summers.
  • I’m going to apply to a humanities intern position at my local university soon; I’ll probably do it for a few months if I get it.
  • I will probably begin volunteering at a food bank soon as well.
  • I also do some volunteer work with NHS.

Research:

  • For the summer, I applied to some research internship programs (NIH, HSAP, etc). I haven’t heard back yet.
  • I participated in a short research project at my local university studying dunes and craters in Mars (sophomore year).

Honors/Awards:

  • 4th place State Science Bowl
  • Regional Orchestra Top Score
  • All-State Orchestra (4th)
  • National AP Scholar
  • I guess I’ll be a National Merit Scholar, since my PSAT was in the top 1%.
  • I won a music performance competition in 8th grade, but I don’t know if that counts.
  • I was also very close to being a state-level spelling bee contestant a few times (don’t know if this counts either).

Hooks:

  • Cleft lip and palate, maybe?
  • Got to be a student at my dad’s old high school in another country for three weeks; it was a very rewarding experience especially because I couldn’t communicate efficiently all the time.

I guess since my school’s so new, we haven’t had the opportunity to have well-established clubs or do a ton of competitions. Anyways, sorry this is so long! And thanks for your input!

Oh, and I forgot to add that I’m captain of Science Bowl.

You have a very solid application. Great work! I think that if you manage to get into one of those selective research programs and do well, you’ll have a great shot at not only Princeton, but also other schools of similar calibre.

Best of luck!

You remind me so much of myself (we had the same sat score and science bowl captain! But everything else of yours is better than mine ;D)! I think you have a very strong chance, but what’s your main focus in high school? I saw humanities internship, lots of stem stuff, and music but what do you want to major in/center yourself around as your main interest?

@sillyface Thank you! I was thinking about majoring in ChemE.
