I haven't taken AP exams yet, but I think as long as I study enough, I can manage 5's on all of them. That's what I have been lead to believe by the AP practice stuff we've done in and outside of class.

I know it is hard to say exactly what my chances are without having taken the SAT II's or the AP exams, but supposing I do get 5's and upper 700's to 800's on my SAT II's, what do you guys think my chances are for the colleges listed above? If you guys have any advice on how I can improve anything, let me know. I'm also considering taking the SAT I again to bring up my math to an 800. If I did, My new list for consideration would read:

MIT
CALTECH
DUKE
STANFORD
UPENN
PRINCETON

Again, thanks for any suggestions, advice, or comments.

Great chances! Don't retake the SAT, it will make you look paranoid and obsessed if you retake a 2310. At least thats what I think, and I have the same score. Focus on doing really well on your SAT IIs; they count just as much.

Congrats, you have a good shot at all of them...

Personally, if I were you: I'd apply to Duke-ED, I'd be suprised if you didn't get in.

"Personally, if I were you: I'd apply to Duke-ED, I'd be suprised if you didn't get in."

I agree. If Duke is your first choice, you should be a lock for ED.

But you have a great chance at all of those schools, assuming your essays and other stuff are just as spectacular as your stats!

Your chances are way above average, but hardly 'great'. Applying ED/EA to these schools, however would significantly improve your chances.

Your stats are beautiful, and where they need to be, but remember where you're applying to--schools that reject around 60% of those with even perfect SAT scores, etc. I realize that numbers aren't all they look at, but what I recommend you do is focus on your ECs, personal qualities, and keep those awesome stats.

If you want to go to MIT/Caltech, you might want to seriously consider working on some demonstrated math and science activities.

murasaki: are you telling me that 60% of the people that apply to the top schools in the country --ivies and other top 10 schools-- have perfect SAT scores??? no. way.

hanskist, i agree with darkrulerII, your SAT shows awesome consistency all of your section scores are around 770, which is amazing very few people can say that they have such a well rounded sat score. you'll be fine with a 2310.

Your case was different since you had perfect and near perfect math and writing but 720 CR. Colleges look at each section separately so if one section was below average for a particular school, you may want to retake.

For the topic creator, you have an above average chance. Good luck. However, if you want to attend Caltech, you should maybe retake for math. A 770 in the math section there is the 25%tile. Everywhere else though, a 760 is math is EXCELLENT and you won't have to retake. Your reading is superior, and writing is excellent as well.

Thebillsfan: no, he was saying they reject near 60% of the people who do receive perfect scores

People who said 2310 is great: his concern was with getting an 800 in math so that he would have a better chance at caltech and MIT

I think you have great chances at the schools, but you aren't by any means guaranteed. But if you do retake the SAT and get the 800 math, and the scores you're forcasting, I think you should at least get accepted to 2-3 of the schools (assuming you apply to 6) on that list. Good luck.
