Chances for Princeton?

Hi everyone! I know that I'm one among 20,000 kids who are looking at Princeton and that Ivys are basically a crapshoot, but I want to know if I should bother. My dream is Princeton University, and I've wanted to go for my whole life.

I'm a current sophomore, so many figures are estimated within reason.

GPA: 3.8-3.9
PSAT Scores: 220-230
Class Rank is not disclosed, but I estimate that I'm in the top 10%
This year: Honors Pre-Calculus with some calculus, Honors Literature, Honors Chemistry, Spanish 3, World History 2, Photography
Next Year: AP Calc BC (I'll be the only person in my grade that's this advanced), AP Stat, APUSH, AP Biology, American Literature, Spanish 4
*Keep in mind: I go to a small all-girls private school that severely limits AP's

ECs:
Sophmore year on varsity volleyball
Volunteer work: I will lead my school's operation smile club, looking to attend a conference and travel abroad to help kids with cleft lip. I myself had cleft lip so I could write a great essay about that.
I do various community service every other week, and am on the board at my school for community service. I'm big on community service.
I'm going to work on an independent research project and submit it to a science fair for my senior year, so I could include that too.
Also, I lead science club at my school, and I'll probably attend some science competitions next year.
I'll enter a math competition that ranks math students, I'm confident in my ability for that.

I want to apply to Princeton's B.S.E. degree, is this possible for me?

I'm white, if that makes any difference. My school doesn't have any national honor society or anything because it's so small, but it does have a good rep. Thanks for your input!

bump, anybody???

b.u.m.p. anyone?

hey could someone help me out?

Need to see how your SAT and ACT scores are. You are right that it’s a crapshoot- no one, other than a Princeton admissions rep, can assess your chance. Your GPA is great, and you have some great EC (specifically your involvement with cleft lip issues).

Focus on putting your best foot forward (I know it sounds cliche). My son just went through the admissions process and had a profile similar to yours. Enjoy this very exciting time of your life.

thanks psychodad10, it means a lot to have a bit of reassurance. I’ve been really paranoid about the whole thing lately which is really unhealthy for a sophomore, haha.

I’m this paranoid too and I am a sophomore. But all you have to do is get good grades, good ECs, good recs, good essays, and good SAT/ACT scores. Then you will enter the crapshoot of ivy league school admissions

Just remember that there is a school out there for everyone- don’t let the school define who you are- be defined by what you do in college and how you use all the resources available to you .

thank you for the great advice! i really hope that school is princeton. and asianas1, you make the admissions process seem much more simple, haha.

i’d really like to get a second opinion on this. bump.

Please wait until the end of junior year at the earliest. There is nobody in the world who could chance a person not even halfway finished with high school
