I've got a couple awards for extracurriculars that I can post if it would help.

I think I've got most of the Academic criteria, but Princeton probably gets tons of people with the exact same numbers as me. I'm worried my extracurriculars won't really make me stand out that much. I've got two great (hopefully) recommendations from my English 100 and 200 professor and my Linear Algebra professor, and I've got a recommendation from the Director of the Academy, but it reads like a form letter. I'm not sure how great my essays are. I'd like to say they're super awesome, but I really have no clue.

Anyone got any ideas of what my chances of getting in are?

i’d say pretty good, just make sure your essay is good and that should get you through the door.

chance back?

I don’t know too much about chances, so I doubt I’d be of much help on yours.

After briefly skimming through, you don’t seem to be very strong in the extracurricular area. Don’t take my word for it though

Also, why in the world did you take the ACT a forth time? You got a 35 on the third try, which is an amazing score.

I think he took it a 4th time to have a writing score in there… which begs the question, why take it 3 times without writing, knowing that you needed it? lol :p

The first two times I took it were to get into the Academy, and I didn’t need the writing (I also wasn’t thinking about college at this point). The third time was a state-mandated test which didn’t include the writing. I only took it a fourth time for the writing.

Yeah, I know my extracurriculars aren’t spectacular, chess is really the only thing that I’ve been consistent with. Do I still have a shot at getting in, and if so, what are my chances? 10%? 30%?

should’ve taken it with the writing all 3 times and you definitely should’nt have taken it the 4th time… That said, you still have a decent shot

Unfortunately, no on without a hook has a pretty good shot of getting in. No one. After the 40% with hooks get accepted, less than 5% of the qualified candidates are accepted. It becomes very random with the school liking for individuals that meet institutional need. If they need a tuba player for the band or the art department is screaming for artists, they’ll take those first.

That said, it would be unusual for Princeton to accept an unhooked kid with as many B’s on his transcript as you have, even from the toughest high schools.

So about 5%?

Anyone else have any insights?

your extra curriculars are really lacking. It just doesn’t seem there is anything special about you, but still apply, you have somewhat of a shot.

Princeton is a crapshoot anyways. Acceptance rate is actually slightly lower than Harvard.

15-20% for you

you definitely have a HIGH chance of getting in given the fact that you are a presidential scholar.
