Chances for Purdue - Improving Application

Hey guys, I'm a senior in high school applying to Purdue's College of Engineering for Fall 2014.

My stats as of now are a 3.83 GPA (school doesn't weight) and a 29 composite ACT (33E, 33R, 22M, 28S). I'm 40th out of 204, so in the top 20%. I'm a member of National Honor Society (officer), Business Professionals of America, church youth group, and Im a 2 year letterman in Tennis. I'll also be in-state for Purdue.

Here are some things that worry me: I'm only taking Pre-calculus this (senior) year, I've never taken Physics, and that low ACT math score. I'm retaking the ACT October 26, and I ran out of time last test so that score should improve. But how bad does the Pre-cal and no physics hurt me? I've gotten all A's in math in high school and I'm loving Pre-cal right now. Also, does my in-state status erase some of those bad spots? How can I improve my app?

Thanks!

i don’t think it would affect you that much in terms of admissions at Purdue, but once you go to Purdue, i think you might struggle a bit because you haven’t studied calculus or physics in high school. you can always catch up over summer i guess!

So you think I can get into the COE with the stats I have now?

It’s going to be a push. May I ask why you haven’t taken any math up until this point?

Honestly I was lazy. I didn’t even think I wanted to go to college, let alone pursue engineering, until about April. So I didn’t take advanced math and stayed on the “normal” track, I took Human Anatomy instead of Physics, and generally put myself in a bad situation admissions wise.
