Chance me for UMich, CMU, NYU, Purdue, USC for Chemical Engineering

By the way, any chances for financial aid at any of these colleges?

I think all of those schools are difficult to tell due to the low SAT score as well as being an international student.

UMich:Match/high match
CMU: Reach
NYU:High match
Purdue: High Match
USC: Match/High match

UMich/CMU/NYU/USC: Reach
Purdue: High match

Can confirm that there’s no financial aid at the federal or institutional level for internationals at CMU

OP is a US citizen, so he can apply for Federal aid. His issue is the state schools that wont give an OOS student very much in Financial aid. His stats wont qualify him for much in merit aid, and he may not be competitive for those schools’ admittance requirements.

Ummm, I am a US citizen, @APUSHmeoffacliff and @hqureshi11

Have you tried the NPCs of these schools? Your score is too low for merit aid while oos public colleges offer little need based aids.
For admission, you are a very high match for Pudue and reach for all the rest. SAT below 25% at UMich overall, not to mention the CoE. Yo may want to retake SAT for a better chance. UMinn has great ChE program and is a lot cheaper for oos. It should be a high match for you too.

Actually , my SAT score is in the mid 50% range for UMich, NYU,USC ,75% for Purdue and around 25% for CMU . So for Purdue, NYU, UMich, my scores are fine. I’m more concerned with the overall profile. But thanks guys , for the input :)

@SameerHussain Your info for UMich is outdated. Check UMich’s website for current data. The mid 50 SAT for 2014 at UMich is 2040-2260. And that is for the UMich overall. CoE would be slightly higher than that. Your CR+M is 90 lower than the median of CoE freshmen last year. The stat for this year is going to be higher as the CoE admission rate dropped down from 30% to 20%. Also, don’t forget you are an oos applicant that the admission rate is even lower at these public schools and you will need better than admission average for a decent chance.

Yeah, I was talking about the 2013/2014 year. The 25% is around 1910 and the 75% is 2210. But I guess being out of state would make it hard. I should apply more to private colleges

For 2013, the mid 50 SAT for UMich was 2030-2250. For 2014, it is 2040-2260. Make sure you are looking at the admission stat, not the enrolled freshmen stat. Your numbers are still off even for last year’s admission stat. Most important, you are applying to CoE which has even higher admission stat and lower admission rate.

I see. And btw, what chance do I have for NYU poly?
