I started my own online business. A friend and I created our own software and launched the site. The business gets a lot of hits and generates profits. The firm is registered as an LLC. I am the CEO of the firm and responsible for managing our relationship with the distributors as well as develop the business further. By far my primary activity.

I conducted economics research during junior and senior year. The researched focused on financial literacy and socioeconomic classes. I have submitted the project to Intel STS and plan on submitting to a variety of journals as well.

I have been elected as a representative at my school's student government.

I have studied indian classical music for the past 7 years. My focus has been on folk music.

Internships:

I currently intern at a hedge fund in the Chicago area. I got the internship by contacting them myself (I have no contacts in the industry or anything). I had the same responsibilities as college interns during the summer, but currently only work after school twice a week.

I have also interned at a corporate law firm. Attained it the same was as the hedge fund internship. Worked there during the summer and prepared case files and conducted legal research.

Thanks a lot. Dartmouth is definitely my top choice school so I would love to know whether I have a good enough shot here.

Forgot to mention that my CR+M is a 1480 but writing is a 700 (thus the low SAT score).

I always find it amusing on CC when people apologize for their SAT score that is in the top 1%.

CC has skewed my perception a lot lol.

How does my chances look for Dartmouth? I am really angry at myself for not applying ED but I didnt want to be in a position where I couldn't bargain for aid. However, seeing how competitive everything is, that might have been a very bad move on my part.

Interesting combination (Black and Indian). I'm half black and half white, and was just accepted to Dartmouth ED. Sounds like you have a fair chance. You'd probably be considered URM. Your stats are good too. Good luck!

I don't know your chances but you seem like a strong candidate. I noticed that you said that you've studied Indian classical music for seven years. That is quite a big commitment. I'm not sure if it would be possible in time for the application deadline, but you might want to make a CD of your playing- just a few short pieces fora total of 10 minutes or so. You could send it in as part of the common app "arts supplement". Even if you don't plan to major in music, the CD would demonstrate the tangible results of your efforts. My S, who was accepted ED to Dartmouth, sent in a CD of several piano pieces.

Thanks for the pointer. Sending in a supplement is definitely a possibility although I am not sure if I can make the tape on time.

Any more feedback? Appreciate all responses.

80% to get in. Good luck.

Thanks. Really hope you are right with that prediction heh.

Any more comments? Appreciate it.
