Alright..
I'm your average mid-class, both parents went to Roger-Williams, white, New England Girl (sucks in the diversity factor, i know)

Stats:

My school sends minimum students to great schools.
My best SAT is currently a 1990 (65.65.69)
SATII- 670 US History
I have a 4.0 G.P.A

looking to study russian and international relations (maybe)

Thanks ! I'm crossing my fingers

Well obviously going ED (even EDII) will help you out quite a bit, we have similar profiles except that my score is a little higher and I don’t have a rank and your GPA is better. I think it’s a low reach for you, high match if you will.

Awesome, thanks for the input and good luck! :)

Same to you!, just out of curiousity what did you write your “Why Emory” essay about?

Well, I haven’t written it yet… there are really a million reasons. I’m going to do some “research” to see what they stress on their website and in brochures. Give them what they want to hear and connect it to my interests.

Ya, the catch is we can’t talk about location, reputation, or size…which basically cover mine so I need to get looking lol

I remember last year I talked about the always ongoing construction at Emory. I thought that stressed that Emory cares about the future and is doing whatever it is to keep up with new discoveries and technologies in the world. Kinda silly, but that’s how I think.

Interesting point…

Also, anyone else want to have a say on my chances? Greatly appreciated!

I don’t even know… Seriously.

hopeful878, I think that you have a good shot. I’d call it a match or high match. Your GPA is, as you know, perfect with some rigor. Your combined SATs would be at about the bottom of the middle 50% of admitted students, which is okay. Your ECs are probably above average, your work experience sounds good. Emory has lots of diversity, and lots of northerners, especially from NY and NJ, but I think that I read somewhere that only about 7% come from New England. If you show Emory demonstrated interest to go along with terrific essays and good recs, I would say that you would probably be admitted. Your thoughts on the “Why Emory” essay are spot on, in my judgment.

There you go, all admissions statistics for my incoming class.

I would definitely suggest improving your SAT scores, though. Other than that, you seem fine.
