CHances for RD??? Plz help!!

I was recently rejected from Stanford EA, and I was wondering about my chances of getting into Wash U. Please be honest. If I don't have a chance, plz tell me.

I have a 4.00 GPA unweighted and 4.45 weighted.
I'm number 3 in my class of about 500.
SAT Scores 800 Math, 760 Reading, 750 Writing.
SATII Scores 800 Math II, 800 Chem, 790 Bio.
ACT: 36 Math, 36 Science, 33 Writing w/ 7 on the essay, 35 Reading (35 composite)

My curriculum is pretty hard I guess.

My essays are probably mediocre (i m not a very good writer, enough to get a 5 on the English AP exam, but thats about it) and my Extra Curriculars aren't at all amazing.

sorry, a mistake on junior year curriculum, I meant AP French 4 class, I got a 1 on the exam. Btw, I'm asian, so that counts against me right?

you would have gotten in no question to Washu ED...too bad you tried to go for Stanford shame shame shame. I'm only kidding, I hear Washu regular decision is ridiculously competitive though. I think you have a very good chance to get in but you should really polish those essays because they make you stand out in a pool of applicants that have similar stats to you. Also...you have more APs than I have letters in my first and last name. Does make me come to the conclusion that you faked this thread but eh who am I to judge.

The key is that you have to show a lot of interest, at least that is what I did which means visiting the campus, taking an interview, and etc.

thanks. about the APs, I think my high school offers like 30 APs, nearly every one i think, except for Chinese, and Physics C (E and M). It does offer Physics C Mechanics. I started early in sophomore year, bit there are even freshmen here taking APs.

I agree completely with FHN_dent about the most important thing you can do is show alot of interest in Wash U. Wash U prefers students who have a genuine interest in attending their school (rather than students who are obviously using it as a safety to the ivies). Yes, visiting campus would be ideal, if possible. Is it too late to apply for any of their scholarships,at this point? If not, that shows extra interest because it often involves an extra essay, etc. Good luck, Obi. You look like you'd be a strong candidate, if they knew you were serious about them.

WashU, like Rice, likes to have as a high an admissions yield as possible. So, I agree with FHN_dent and ollump in that you should try to visit as soon as possible. Other than that, you are undoubtedly academically qualified, so don't worry about anything other than displaying genuine interest for wustl.

yeah, i am very interested in wash u. I applied for the Moog Biology Scholarship and the Scholars program, but I really don't have the time to visit right now. Whenever I get a long break, I fly to NY to see my dad.

You have a good shot. Just work on the essays and express interest (don't worry too much about visiting, I didn't until after I got in RD). Sorry about Stanford, but still, you're in luck! Wash U is amazing! Good luck.
