<p>I was just deferred from Princeton ED. Here are my stats:</p>

<p>Basics:
Asian male (Korean) in central N.J.
competitive private school (we’re a feeder school to the Ivies, especially Penn, but most of those accepted get in ED, not regular)</p>

<p>Academics:
School does not rank.
My grades have been progressively improving over the years (from a B+/A- average freshman year to an A/A+ junior year)
I’ve taken the most rigorous courseload available.</p>

<p>Tests:
SAT I: 1480 first time (740V, 740M) 1550 second time (750V, 800M)
SAT II’s: 660 IC (ouch), 790 Chem, 780 IIC, 760 Writing, 800 Bio-M
AP’s: 5 BC Calculus, 4 US History, 5 Biology</p>

<p>EC’s:
Classical piano for 12 years (numerous awards)
Glee Club/a cappella group (10-12)
NJ All-State Chorus (12)
German Club (12) co-president
Foreign Language Magazine (12) section editor
Volunteering at special-needs school (10-12)
Winter Musical (11-12)</p>

<p>Awards:
Rensellaer Mathematics and Science Award (12)
National Merit Semifinalist (12)
Edward J. Bloustein Distinguished Scholar (12)
National German Exam High Scorer (10)
USA Biology Olympiad Semifinalist (11)
Honor Roll every semester (9-12)

<p>Summers:
CTY after 9th grade
attended a piano music festival in Venice after 10th grade
UPenn’s Summer Science Academy after 11th</p>

<p>Jobs:
Editor of a corporate newsletter from 10th grade onward.</p>

<p>You seem to be a very impressive applicant. My only concern would be that whatever kept you out of Princeton ED would keep you out of of Penn. Maybe a bad rec or essays...I don't know. Maybe they didn't see committment to any particular ec. I'd still say you have a really high chance.</p>

<p>you have a good chance. Poker, it was probably because Princeton ED was just ridiculous this year. Which awards are you going to mention in the 'awards' section of the app?</p>

<p>nealious, what do you mean "which awards"? i'm going to put all of them, unless there isn't enough space. i guess i could take out the AP scholar and honor roll, b/c they're really common. </p>

<p>j_blg, i went to skidmore (saratoga springs) session 1. i took comp sci.</p>

<p>thanks for evaluating. and nealious is right; Princeton ED was ridiculous this year. they accepted two athletes from my school, and deferred six much-more qualified people. penn is my number 2 choice.</p>
