Chances for RD?

I just had my Penn interview and the lady really liked me and specifically told me she would write me a great recommendation. How far will that take me?

Also, here are my stats

3.9 gpa top 7% of graduating class
2150 sat score (770 math, 650 reading, 730 writing)
varsity tennis, indian classical dance
medical futures club - officer
model united nations
jsa
nhs
spanish honor society - officer

tell me honest opinions :-)

good choice

Your app isnt anything special... Sorry if I hurt your feelings but you said be honest.

unless your essays are killer are you have some hook you havent written about, there are many applicants just like you. best of luck though

It looks like you have a good shot...but then again you never know with these Ivies. Good luck though.

I think your chances are excellent. Penn seems to have accepted a lot of ED students who are weak this year...and rejected strong students. So, you have a great shot since your SAT is a little low.

dulce, are you still bitter? it's just a deferral. you've got a second chance, so shut it. if you check out collegeboard, they say penn finds personal qualities more important than scores and they're still one of the best schools. obviously, your personal qualities are really sucky if you're still that bitter.

dulce seriously go ***** yourself because you're never going to get laid in college. you're too much of a frigid b*tch.

Does anyone else think dulce is at least a little funny?

maybe a little... but rohans comment was funnier

dulce, knock it the **** off... just cuz u didnt get in doesnt make penn a bad school and honestly, if you're acting like this much of a jackass after getting deferred and not even rejected, penn does a VERY good job in selecting PEOPLE, NOT NUMBERS to admit... even though they deferred me :-</p>

anyway, instead of devolving into a "bash dulce!" thread, ill answer the OP

I wouldnt count on Penn to be honest. you have no hook and your ECs arent that great. your gpa is great, congrats on that, and your SAT is average (though the reading is below the 25th percentile), but the ECs, if anything are average-below average. there are a LOT of kids like you, especially in this years batch where apps went up 20%, who have great numbers AND who have something special about them/have a hook

the interview isnt that crucial... if you did well its a plus, but its not going to make that much of a difference

good luck to you, i wish you the best and i certainly think you have a shot, but if i were to guess right now if you would be accpeted or rejected, i would have to say rejected

Your ECs are relatively weak...the above posters are correct by saying that you have no hook. Your reading score is a bit low, and there are going to be many applicants with SATs above 2150 who have better ECs and similar GPAs. It would take some really good essays/recommendations to get accepted. Did you apply to CAS, Wharton, Engineering, or Nursing?
