Sid, I think you may have a very good chance of being admitted to Colgate, but of course the decision is up to the Admissions people, not me! Your grades and activities seem excellent! I imagine they will be impressed, and depending on your application essay and recommendations letters and other factors, they will most likely think you are an impressive candidate. Colgate is in a very small rural town in upstate New York, as you probably know, and I assume you have not visited it. It is in a very pretty region, but it is also not near any cities, so your life will be mainly on the college campus. Colgate has a number of international students but most students are Americans, of course. The average student is smart, athletic, and hard working. Colgate has a particularly impressive number of overseas programs for its students, but of course you might be least likely to need such a program! Unless, of course, you wanted to go to France or Italy or Japan or some other part of the world. It is an excellent college with first-rate academics, an excellent art and drama program, top athletics, and a very good reputation. Many of its graduates go into business, government, law, and medicine. Good luck with your application. Maybe you will end up playing tennis at Colgate? I hope you have a chance to play some good Nepali-American blues, too! Best of luck.

Hi ColgateDAD. Thank you so much for your reply. I do hope I get in and get to play some Nepali- American Blues… I forgot to mention in the first post that I am applying for quite a hefty amount of financial aid( can only afford about $5000) so I think this would affect my chances of getting admitted somewhat. However, I think the common application essay went pretty good. I think the admissions office will be pretty impressed with the recommendations as well( thats what the techers said atleast).

I will submit the applications in a few days and will hope for the best. Pray for me(haha)… Cheers!!
