Chances for Regular Decision?

Hi,

I am currently a senior and recently applied to Newhouse as my first choice college along with the College of Arts and Sciences as my second choice. Just wondering what my chances are of getting accepted to either school.

ACT: 24
GPA: 3.76(I've taken 6 AP classes with the rest being mostly honors)
SAT II US History: 660
SAT II Literature 610
Extracurricular:
-Writer for school newspaper from 9-12 grade and editor from 11-12 grade
-Key Club Officer 10-12 grade
-Volunteer with the Miracle League from 9-12
-"Reality" Panelist 11-12 grade: contributed articles monthly to section of local newspaper
-National Football Authority writer 11-12: Wrote articles on NFL
-Summer internship as a reporter for a local newspaper
-Boston University Summer Challenge program this past summer
-Township baseball/Travel 9-12 grade
-Future Business Leaders of America in 10 grade

Thanks!

with a 24 on the ACT, I highly doubt Newhouse. Still a good shot for College of As and Ss.

You have a nice resume’ ( writing for NFA helps), and have a good GPA… The ACT score may be a bit of a problem in the regular decision pool…

it’s a good thing you have arts and sciences available as your second option, but don’t be too discouraged about your ACT score and newhouse. you’re a reach for newhouse and a match for arts and sciences.

although i’m not personally in newhouse, many of my friends who are didn’t have the most exceptional grades or ACT scores (some were far worse than yours). rather, they have extreme passion and are very talented in their respective majors.

make sure you write an exceptional essay and your passion really exudes throughout your application. you can do it.

I agree with viciousdirt, the ACT is low (for Newhouse). Send in some of your articles, that should help also.

During my admissions interview I gave my representative a few of my articles. I know the ACT is low but hopefully they look past it.
