i am a member of the national honor society as well as the national spanish honor society.

I'm not sure if it's weighted or not, to be honest. But I do know that my school does GPA's on a scale of 8 (8: A+, 7: A, 6: B+, 5: B, 4: C+, 3: C, 2: D, 1: F) and you go up 1 pt for AP courses. If I recall correctly, it IS weighted, which kind of dissappoints me.

Wait, so it's a 3.85/8? That seems to be roughly equal to a C+ average. If that's the case, that would definitely be a problem, unless grades at your school are really, really rough, making that sort of GPA typical for high-achieving students.

I think the best thing you could do is try to look through the stats of recent graduates from your school. Your guidance counselor may have a little book that keeps a record of GPA, SAT scores, and which colleges they were accepted or rejected from.

Ohh ok good. :) Hmm, but that is closer to the low side of typical Duke admits. Make sure you have really awesome mid-year grades. They could be a good swing vote if there are any concerns about your grades.

Well it is a high GPA, but a lot of Duke applicants will have higher ones. Is there an upward trend of any sort? My GPA was dragged down a lot by a 3.7 freshman year, but admissions committees were pretty forgiving about it because every other year my unweighted GPA ranged from 3.9-4.0.

i'd say you have a 70/30 chance of getting in. your act is great, your gpa shouldn't hurt you, and your schedule looks tough. make your essay is good and i'd say you have a decent shot.

What are my chances for reg dec? i don't know if i'm a long shot or competitive. Would i be better off applying to UNC, UVA , UPENN? or below that- Emory, George Washinton>?

Wait, wait...RCO813, firstly, I think you have a decent chance of admittance. Your course load looks difficult, and your GPA, while in the lower half of Duke admittees, is still in range. But, DPennFL, please, if you want to post your stats, make your own thread. Your stats are decent, and you have a good chance, but it's rude whenever you try and take over someone else's thread to find out your own chances.

Lol, that's okay...I'm sorry, I just read over my own response, and I realize how rude it sounded. I apologize! If you need any help with anything, you can PM me, or send an e-mail, or something, but CC is easy to get the hang of if you just experiment a bit.
