SAT-II: pending, but I'm expecting 710-750 Lit and 740-780 IIc

a lot of more or less worthless clubs (i.e.: forced to take marching band as a club while in band, quite playing lacrosse after 3 years), however, high up position in my school's model UN club, won an outstanding delegate award at the University of Chicago's annual MUN session.

i play multiple instruments and recieved a perfect score on the highest level (6) at NYSSMA (actually, that was in 8th grade too haha), which is New York's musical achievement testing.

i have been selected for prestige in painting (although this was early in high school).

i have worked for all of high school at two different jobs, at least 10 hours a week.

i have interned for the presiding majority leader of the local legislator for the past year and intend to continue as well as help her with her campaign next year. (>50 hrs total)

i will have 2 or 3 quite good reccomendations from 2 or 3 teachers that know me quite well, as well as an additional reccomendation from the presiding officer of my county legislator.

i am a member of the national honor society as well as the national spanish (language proficiency) honor society.

anybody? please?

I think Williams will be a reach school for you with your current stats. Are you in any leadership positions that you did not mention? Best of luck to you as you proceed with your applications.

I think you have a good chance-- it's just that its difficult for everyone because only a small percentage of those who apply are accepted. But it certainly seems possible.

RC0, what do you want people to say? Of course you are in the running with everyone else. Just do the best you can on your standardized tests. Don't stress over them too much. As an incoming senior there is not too much more you can do, except excel in your extracurricular activities and continue to keep your solid grades, make sure you speak to everyone who is writing letters of reccomendations for you early, and write a common app essay that gives you a voice. This is all you can do, reasonably, and it is the same advice I got as an incoming senior. I do not know how admissions works exactly at Williams, as opposed to admissions committees at other schools, as I never met a person who did not get into Williams. You are doing what you can to show that you are a good, strong applicant, and that is what expected of you. The thing only keeping you from becoming the next Ephman '10 is the admissions committee, and sometimes, people make wrong decisions, and they will faulter, it is inevitable, so do not take it to heart if they reject you. Though, this does not happen all of the time, and you may very well received a big ol' purple folder.

hahah josh thanks a lot, nice light-hearted, to the point and honest answer.

bottom line is, i will apply, and if i get in, great; if i don't, so be it. i really think it will come down to a "coin-toss" at this point in the game and is truly unpredictable. but we'll see.
