<p>Hi guys! I am in love with Rice, but I am worried that it is too much of a reach. Can anyone help me with insight/suggestions?</p>

Academic:
GPA: 3.9
ACT: 30
APs: Lit and comp (5), World History (4), Language and comp (4)
School profile: private, highly competitive </p>

<p>Extra curricular:
2 varsity teams, president of 3 clubs, two year internship at a biochemistry research lab at UPenn. Published author on an academic paper, member of National English Honors society, National Spanish honors society; community service outreach board president.
Recognized by the Pennsylvania Academy of Science as the most outstanding Junior in the state. 1st place and perfect scores (four times) at state and regional science fairs.
Member of model UN, President of Science club, Chair of Senior Annual fund (fundraising for school)
Member of Mock trial, intel talent search award winner
waiting on results from entry of Intel national science competition.</p>

<p>Recommendations:
two great teacher recs, recommendation from Lab PI</p>

<p>Essays: i think my common app essay is really strong and unique</p>

<p>I know my ACT is my issue, I just want to know if this is a possibility at all or the chances</p>

<p>I definitely think you have a chance especially with your EC’s and everything should make up for the ACT score (which don’t get caught up in scores it is after all just a number.) But Rice is very competitive so it’s really a ‘reach’ for everyone but I would consider you a strong applicant. Did you apply RD? </p>
