Chances for Rutgers or NC State with 23 ACT Score

Hi. I currently live in North Carolina. I would be considered out of state for Rutgers and in state for NC State. I am currently a high school senior and applied for Fall 2011. I applied Early Action for both universities (NC State: Oct. 15th deadline; Rutgers: Nov. 1st deadline). What are my chances for these colleges? (Stats Below)

Rutgers: School of Arts and Sciences - New Brunswick
School of Environmental and Biological Sciences - New Brunswick

NC State: First Year College
Biological Sciences

Here are my stats:

GPA UW: 3.5
GPA W: 4.1
ACT: 23 (Equivalent to a 1590/2400 on the SAT)
RANK: Top 13%
I will have a total of 4 AP classes at the end of graduation. I have had a High B/A average throughout high school. I have a decent amount of extracurricular activities and work experience for a few months.

For Rutgers and NC State, I had my application submitted and completed near the end of September. I still have not heard from either!? Do you know when I should find out for Rutgers? (People who applied after me have already found out at Rutgers New Brunswick!)

Considering I am out of state and my stats, what are my chances at these two universities?

anyone’s input can be helpful…?

you should be fine. it’s taking long, because you are borderline. your admission should come later – even if wait-listed, you will eventually get in.

Hmmmm…how does it work at Rutgers? Do you apply to the university or do you apply to the specific college?

Test Scores
Middle 50% of First-Year Students

SAT Critical Reading: 530 - 630
SAT Math: 560 - 680
SAT Writing: 540 - 640
ACT Composite: - -

The bottom of their mid 50 range is a SAT 1630. That means that your 1590 equivalent is in the bottom 25%. That’s not a good place to be. That quartile is often for special admits…athletes and such.

If you want to go out of state, I think you should apply to some schools where you’d have a better chance.

BTW…will your parents pay the $40k per year to go to Rutgers?

sat scores just a guideline. your gpa is solid. $40k/yr is exactly why oos schools will let in.
