USC is my first choice, and I hope that I will be in the running for a scholarship. I know my weaknesses are not being a NMSF and class rank, but I hope my rec, essay, and first gen college student will overpower that.

Thanks
andersenws

Also, I'm a white male (another Ugh..) and I've taken more AP classes than just Calc.

I think you have a pretty good chance for a scholarship.

A bit curious why you didn't take the SAT once to see how you'd do?

I'd also like to see what you guys think of my stats because i've been freaking out way too much over whether or not i'll receive a scholarship.

named Most Valuable Dodgeball Player by the staff at Improv Theater Camp

I'm not worried about my extracurriculars, but i am worried about my less than stellar SAT (640 math...eek) and the fact that i'm only taking regular physics, which i have an A+ in right now.

Well I'd say being named Most Valuable Dodgeball player should automatically get you a scholarship.

In all seriousness, I think your SAT score is a bit low for a scholarship but at the same time if your interview went as well as you said it did, you may have a shot.

Also, one thing that may not work in your favor is that you are applying as a mechanical engineer. I say that because each department gets a certain number of scholarships to be handed out, and with engineering being one of the more selective majors, they'd look for high Math scores in all applicants, but particularly for students whom they give a scholarship. Also, your E.C's are outstanding, but they also do not relate to engineering, which may slightly reduce their distinction in the eyes of the scholarship committee.

In any case, best of luck.

please, don't discount the power of my dodgeball award. i spent hours pelting drama kids with rubber balls to earn that award.

Thanks sfgiants. I didn't take the SAT because I did less than stellar on my PSAT and I had already received my 35 on the ACT. In fact, the only reason I took the ACT again was to prove it wasn't a fluke and try to get a 36.
