This is a purely curious question—what was your highest single-sitting SAT? (They do superscore so it’s not entirely relevant).

I’d imagine you’re probably in because you have excellent scores and some extracurricular CS involvement. (SCS 2015: I was somewhat less strong academically but had a slew of really strong extracurriculars.)

I got a 2320, then a 2350. Thanks for the input!

There’s no guessing SCS- they only have spots for 140 people and a low yield.

You have the stats they look for - but there’s lots of Indian/Asian males so that’s a tough one.

If you can do a sleeping bag weekend and interview - stress that CMU is your first choice. If it really is, you should apply ED.
If you have any chance to attend their summer college this summer (it’s pricey) you should and then apply EA - that acceptance rate is close to 100% for those who do well in CMU courses.

Doesn’t CMU only have ED? Unfortunately I can’t apply ED because I’m unsure about how much financial aid I’ll need.

bump… anyone else have opinions?

You are clearly qualified, but no one can tell you what your chances are. What difference does it make if I say there are 5 out of 10 or 9 out of 10? I’m not the admissions committee, you’re still going to apply aren’t you? Unless your recommendations aren’t what you expect, or you write a really terrible essay your chances are probably better than average. Good luck!

Wow you’re ranked 2 out of 1100 students? Thats REally impressive.

I say you have an excellent chance. SCS is extremely competitive, but everything about you is excellent. Dont get too hopeful though, you could still easily get rejected.
