Chances for SEAS ED

Hi, could you guys help out and chance me please? Thanks.

Academics
SAT: 2360
SAT2: 790 790 770 760
APs: Seven 5's, one 4, one 3
Rank: 3/300+

ECs
Piano (state + national awards)
Orchestra - violin (minor awards)
Math team (top 5 in state)
Golf
Volunteering
Military (leadership position, in charge of 50 guys)

State: IL <-- hope this helps

you have the grades and sats, ecs seem pretty good from a first glance. yeah, you have a solid shot, ed will definitely help, but nothing is a sure shot these days in the college admission process.

gpa/courseload?

unlike the average 25 ECs/applicant, this is a 'well lopsided' summary, strong on academics, very strong on a couple of ECs and still a few others to show a broad set of experiences. I think if you don't mess up the essays/interview, i can't see why you would not make it. go ED to be safe, Columbia is notorious for rejecting even highly qualified applicants.

Thanks for the replies. Will definitely work hard on the essays to give myself a good shot.

GPA: 4.00 (school doesn't weigh)

Courseload:

APs: Physics C, Stats, English
CC courses: Multivariable Calc/Discrete Math, Modern US History

good chances. You have very generic "asian" (dunno if you're asian or not) EC's but the good thing is that you apparently excel at them. Wanna specify on "top 5 in state"? How did you do on AMC/AIME? Anyway, i'd say admit with some nice essays.

Hehe, you got me there - 100% asian.

We've consistently been top 5 in ICTM state finals every year in our division.

Got a 2 on the AIME. Nothing special.

Could you elaborate more on your Piano and Military involvements? In particular, I'm curious what sorts of "national" recognition you've received for your music, how strong a commitment it is, and how that commitment is demonstrated. For the military/leadership thing, can you just go on for a paragraph or so about what that's all about?
