I go to community college. I will have most my major prep completed besides physics. Some tell me that the UCs will not accept me.. some tell me the opposite. Can anybody give me some input on whether physics as a bio major is essential to get into UCLA, UCSD, UCI etc?
Any help would be great, thanks!

Check assist.org it isn’t essential for transfer but some majors have additional prerequisites

I basically live in assist.org lol. I know what it says; I’m just relaying what a counselor told me and was looking for some extra input from different sources. Thanks though.

@hooper9 i literally just asked a question similar to this last week. here’s the thread for reference: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/1644889-ivc-to-uci-bio-major-possibly-missing-some-pre-req-s-p1.html

basically, you don’t NEED to take physics before your transfer to UCI (I’m not sure about UCLA or UCSD though… each UC has its own transfer policy regarding required science classes). However, it’s “suggested” that you take it. But not taking it should not affect your eligibility to apply for transfer.

Thanks @ntweeter I appreciate it!

@hooper9 glad to help I would look into the other UCs’ physics transfer policies though… because it might not be the same for them as it is with UCI. Like you were saying, you live on assist (I know EXACTLY what you mean haha). If assist is confusing you though, I would definitely try to contact each school’s transfer admissions department directly (like over the phone perhaps) and ask them if you must take physics before you’re eligible to transfer. I plan on doing that with UCI because I think I might have found a loophole on getting into their bio department without having to take o-chem before I transfer :D
