Senior Year:
My school offers its students the opportunity of taken legitimate undergrad courses at Princeton University, with Princeton students. I will be taking one in French.

EC's:
Got gold medals in Remote Sensing, Ornithology and Disease Detectives in the Science Olympiad state tournament this year.I was on the 1st place team as well. I'm going to nationals tomorrow.

Got 1 gold medal at states last year, but did not go to nationals.

I have a USCF rating of about 1520.

Participated and placed in National Ocean Science Bowl, as well as DOE Science Bowl.

Qualifed for USAMO this year. Failed freshman and sophomore year.

Have taught chess at a local library for 2 years, free of charge.

I don't mean to sound overconfident, but I'm pretty sure I'll be a National AP Scholar once my scores come out this year, for what it's worth.

Well, that's my CV, guys. I'm really nervous, and would truly appreciate some advice. Should I even bother applying to the Ivies? I am a Chinese male.

Bumpy bumpy bump circle circle dot dot

A 3.7 is gonna make the Ivies very difficult, but not impossible.

chance back please!!!

if only your GPA was higher… then you’d have a great shot :(

if you apply Penn ED you will have no problem getting in. and at that point you wouldn’t have any other option but to go there though…

you’ll be fine at all of the 2nd tier schools like gtown and uc berkeley, but how you’ll fare with the upper ivies is slightly unpredictable. you do have something going for you though which is nat’l recognition and extremely high level math courses. you apply EA to MIT or Caltech and you might just have a shot, but that GPA will really hurt you…

I’d say your best bet is to apply ED to Penn and you’ll get in, and going to an ivy in the long run, no matter which one it is, will be prestigious.

LOL Penn is actually my first choice. That’s why I’m applying there ED.

Definitely apply for the ivys. You have good academics and focus on a couple ECs (chess and math especially) which is good, giving you a legit chance of any of the schools u mentioned. One question however, how do you have a 3.7UW but a 4.5W on a 4.0 scale? Isn’t it .5 added back for AP/Dual/Joint?

W GPA isnt on a 4.0 scale ^^
but every school is different.
