Chances for some top schools?

<p>Hey, so I'm just finishing my junior year and borderline freaking out about applying to colleges in a few short months. So the schools I'm looking at are: Yale EA, Harvard, Princeton, Dartmouth, Brown PLME, Stanford, UVA, Georgetown, Duke, Northwestern BA/MD, NYU, George Washington, UCLA and UC Berkeley.</p>

<p>I've already been accepted to at least 1 UC (because I'm in the top 4% of my class), so UC Riverside/Merced/Davis are probably going to be my last resort safeties.</p>

<p>Stats:
Socal Public High School, not super distinguished but there is a kid going to Dartmouth from the class of 2010
Rank: 1/860
GPA: 3.94 unweighted, 4.71 weighted
SAT single sitting: 800CR, 730M, 790W Total: 2320
SAT superscore: 800CR, 770M, 790W Total: 2360
SAT IIs: Chem 800, Math 2 760 (retaking in june), also taking US History in June
AP: Human Geography (5), Euro (5), Chem self-study (4)
AP Pending results: Psychology, Physics B, US History, Lang/Comp, Calc BC
PSAT: 222, already commended, likely semifinalist</p>

<p>Extracurriculars:
Model UN (10-12) Founder, President, assorted awards 2 hrs/wk
Circle of Friends (9-12) Pairs general education students and special needs students for lunch, plans activities and disability awareness presentations, promotes inclusion on high school campus, VP Public Relations (10 and 12), Disability Awareness Coordinator (11), 150 hrs community service, 2 hrs/wk
Habitat for Humanity (11-12) Cofounder, Vice President, Chair of Advocacy, 50 hrs community service, 1 hr/wk
Speech and Debate (11-12) Parli, PoFo, and doing LD next year, assorted awards, did well at state quals but didn't make it to state, 4 hrs/wk

Summer 2010- Paid receptionist for local magazine (30 hrs/wk), working on medical journal article on Corticosteroids with another plastic surgeon</p>

<p>So if you could chance me, or recommend other schools I should look at, it would be much appreciated.</p>

<p>Oh yeah, and senior course load: AP Lit, Honors Econ/AP Gov, Honors Anatomy, Sports Medicine, Calc 3 at Community College</p>

<p>And I intend to major in Chem, Political Science, or Math. So pretty much undecided, lol.</p>

<p>Oh yeah, Stanford is so bloody easy to get into? Stanford is considered on-par with Ivy Leagues. Know what you’re talking about.</p>

<p>Your core stats and EC’s are great, and finally someone who like me sees the importance of summer activites. Legacies definately help.</p>

<p>Yale EA- Reach (though its a crapshot, but the legacies and rank help)
Harvard- SAme as Yale, just even MORE of a crapshot
Princeton- See above
Dartmouth- A little better than above
Brown PLME- not aware of this program, but still reachish
Stanford- see Harv
UVA- in state that a little lower reach, if not reach
Georgetown- lower reach
Duke- reach
Northwestern BA/MD- a little higher than normal reach, just b/c of dual program
NYU- in
George Washington- almost in
UCLA- in state than lower reach, if not, reach. Summer progrmas does give a bit of a bump here
UC Berkeley- Reach</p>

OH, speaking of summer activities, I forgot that I’m also doing CA Girls State this summer. Before the program, a group of girls is preselected by school for academic merit and leadership qualities, then one is chosen to represent school by American Legion Auxillary through an interview, essay, and resume. It’s basically a summer program to learn about state government. So excited :)</p>

<p>Im just worried when u say you’re in the 160k-200k bracket but will apply for FinAid. Your EFC is around 30-40% of your income at like everywhere except Harvard. You will most likely be rejected for any Financial aid.</p>

<p>Yeah that’s definately something good. I beleive you can run for like state gov. etc., after which you can do girls/boys country. </p>

<p>And yeah I agree- financial aid at 160k income bracket is not happening. I guess I overlooked this before. If anything, it’ll hurt your chances of admission. Financial aid is usually for people who seriously can’t afford to go to school. I’d consider loans and smaller scholarships to clear up the bills.</p>
