Michigan can no longer be considered a safety, but you obviously have a very good chance of getting in. Had you applied in October, not only would your chances of admission been enhanced, but you would have been eligible for a merit scholraship. Applicants who apply late usually miss out on scholarships.

how late is late?
i applied january 4th because I didn’t realize how bad it could be to apply late…
and do you have to apply separately for the scholarships ypu spoke of? (I’m out of state)

Your stats are fantastic, and if you had applied before Nov. 1, you probably would have had no problem getting in. But it does get much more difficult as it gets later in the rolling decision process. Last year’s valedictorian at my d’s HS - which is in-state btw - had a 4+ GPA and was accepted at Notre Dame. He decided relatively late to apply to Umich and was rejected.
You may still get in. I just wanted to warn you that it gets much tougher as time goes by. Oh and about the merit scholarships. My d was awarded one without applying for it. But I’ve heard of others that the school may invite people to apply for.

thanks everyone. yeah i wish i had gotten my application in a lot sooner

Scholarships are given out to top students, whether they apply for them or not. But typically, most scholarships are given out to students who apply before December. That is by no means a certainty, but it tends to be the trend.
