Chances for Sport Management-Syracuse, Ithaca, Umass Amherst...

Hey guys, so I was wondering if you could help me figure out which schools I can get into. I've visited some of them, and i think all will at least consider me from what they've said except UMA, especially seeing as its public and with the economy will be much harder to get into. So heres my info:
GPA: 2.9
SAT: 1210/1810(retaking in october)
ACT: 26
Honors/APs:
Honors Algebra II
ECs:
Eagle Scout
8 Seasons of HS Sports(10 by graduation)
Hopefully Captain of Track & Field
2 Years of Relay For Life(1 as a captain)
I plan on being on the School Paper and SADD this year
Summer Internship with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in Marketing
Summer Internship with Yale Bulldogs in Sports Publicity
I have great rec's from my bosses
Years of Park and Rec Sports

I plan on getting the GPA to the 3.1 area in the 1st senior quarter. let me know what you guys think...

These are my schools:

Syracuse
Ithaca
Umass Amherst
Springfield Coll
Endicott
Lasell
WNEC
Robert Morris
Cal U of Penn

can someone give me a little help please

Although I think that your extracurrics and work experience and great, especially in the fields of sports management, your GPA and SAT scores are not what most of these places look for. I know that UMass - Amherst has one of the better sports management programs, so that’s probably a reach. Syracuse and Ithaca are matches. I can’t help you with any of the other ones sorry.

U MAss may admit, but probably not into their highly touted Sports Mgmnt major. If admitted, you would be in another program, and would have to achieve a certain GPA in the required courses in order to even apply to the SM program…so this could be a risk with your 2.9/3.1 previous GPA…Ithaca and Syracuse are possible match/low reach…try Sacred Heart University, Fairfield, CT…although becoming very selective, with your goal of a 3.1 GPA ,and achievements of 26 ACT and your good recs and EC’s you should be able to have a favorable application there…SHU has the highly respected John Welch business school and Sports Management major with strength of alumni and internships for students available…if you can get the GPA up higher, you will also be eligible for some possible merit aid there.

P.S. SHU has also been known to have students intern at the Red Sox organization…

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the help. I’m looking to get out of CT actually regarding SHU. Ithaca has connections to the Celtics and Endicott has connections with both the Red Sox and Celtics among other MA sports teams. Anyone else?

anyone else?

Our son is looking into sports management and finance/bus. admin. and Rice surfaces as a top school in this area.

Ohio U. in Athens was the first program in sports admin; also look at Bowling Green in Ohio.

thanks for the info guys, ive done my research. ive gone through hundreds of schools. im looking to stay closer to home than those schools, nothing against the programs. im not looking to go to ohio, none the less texas lol. if anyone has any more info on the programs i listed, something i could do that they would especially like to see, or a different opinion about one of the schools please let me kniw.

My son recently visited Endicott. He loved it. If interested in Endicott you should visit. They will also set up “informal” interviews. This may help with admissions?

I’ve heard Endicott is excellent. I plan on visiting there before applying ED for Cuse

Let me know how you like Endicott after your visit. Good luck with your search.

thanks ill be sure to
