I'm not one of those people who have a tremendous passion in one area of study, and who has their life goals all planned out. My interests have always been really diverse, and I don't know if that's going to hurt me in this whole process because I can't be nicely packaged into a "hook" category. I know my ECs are a little weak for some of these schools as well. Oh yes. It would be awesome if you guys could help me cut down my list of schools, because I'm honestly too much of a lazy bum to do so many applications. Be brutally honest =D

I'd cut from the top schools. With a 1470, being asian and having just average ECs, chances at the Princeton/Stanford/MIT (with math score that's virtually impossible) level are not great. Penn/Cornell/Duke level are better reaches. USC a good match as I assume the UC schools are since you're in state.

Ok, colleges will take the best of the two sections so she has a 1510 which is Ivy material and her ECs and awards are very above average. I, personally, think you have a good chance.

:)

well, do you think my math IIC score kind of makes up for the SATI math?

I think your SAT I Math score will be excused to some extent. I mean, you got an 800 on IIC, 5's on Calc AB and BC, etc.

You have a great shot at all your schools - although your math score may hurt you for the UC's.

The MIT Leadership Award was awarded by MIT, right? If so, I'd say apply there EA (it isn't SCEA, so you can apply EA to Stanford, too). You'd have a really good chance.

I agree that Stanford would be very hard to get into, though, since you're an Asian from Cali, even though you're very well rounded.

If you want to cut down on your list, look at where all your schools are situated. Columbia is in the middle of a huge city, Princeton is in the Jersey burbs, and Cornell is in the middle of nowhere. Do you know what kind of environment you want to be surrounded by? You could easily scrape off a few schools with that.

No because with the curve a ton of people get 800 on the IIC.

I was just kidding about the MIT and Stanford EA thing, by the way. I really knew that Stanford was SCEA. Totally.
