I'm pretty sure that's as specific as I can get at the moment; I'm sorry for the super-long post.
Thank you in advance <3

honestly, with those numbers, i think you should find some safties

Pretty good but nothing stands out to me.

Please tell me whether you will get into Stanford! If you don’t, I’m probably not.

790 and 4? What happened?!?!?!?!

Welcome to CC! Where the extraordinary are ordinary, the overachieving come standard, and incredulously amazing profiles are…
Holy wankers in a jukebox.
I don’t know what to say. Based off your profile, you should know your chances decently well. Solid profile across the board; you’re a highly competitive applicant.

hmm, not much medically related EC’s for those bs md programs though. you seem intelligent enough to make it through the reg path though.

My D is also applying to Stanford(Early) and couple of BS/MD programs. Yesterday we recvd following update from her GC regarding REA –

" The student may not apply to an Early Action,Restrictive Early Action, or Early Decision program (or any variation thereof) at any private college/university in the U.S.

This restriction includes applications for scholarships or special academic programs where the college/university requires the student to apply under an early notification plan for consideration."

Same thing says on Stanford website also. I have two questions –

(1) What is early notification plan ?
(2) Do BS/MD programs considered as Special academic programs ?

Agh, I had completely forgotten about this thread until I got an email notification yesterday.

Regarding my 790 and a 4 in Chemistry… I have no idea. I think I was stressing about the exam too much, as my AP Chemistry teacher took a maternity leave during the middle of the year, and so for the Spring semester, I had a completely different teacher.

I do have decent scores, I think; the only part I’m worried about is that I don’t have a specific talent to showcase in my application. Hoping that the general well-roundedness will be attractive instead.

An early notification plan means that the student will be notified of the admission decision early, isn’t it? I’m pretty sure the programs I will be applying to fall under the regular decision category, so I’m going to send in my Early Decision application for Stanford later this week.

What I have heard that if anybody is applying to Stanford under REA cannot apply to any BS/MD program even if the program is under RD. I might be wrong. Are u sure u could apply to Stanford(REA) and BS/MD (RD) ?

You should have a good shot anywhere. Heck, if all other Stanford REA applicants were as qualified as you I wouldn’t even bother applying.

Out of curiosity, what’s your unweighted GPA?

You are among the bunch of nerdy Asians… (it’s rude, but that’s the truth)

You should be accepted, but if you are denied, the reason would be your non-passionate ECs.

^ I am chancing you because I am an Asian too and I know the conditions & competition among Asians. (the competition is brutal)

Am I considered into the “nerdy asian” pool? I mean I have high test scores and GPA, but I also devoted most of my EC time to sports. In particular, non-typical asian sports (sorry for the stereotype) such as football and track. I wasn’t able to do football this year and thus did cross country instead. Also, I’m from a predominately white state (WI), and not from CA?

Sorry for hijacking your thread lol, but harisheena’s comment piqued my curiosity.

@bigkev - provide the link of your profile

how can I chance on the vague information provided by you.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1013964-stanford-duke-nwestern-like.html

Sorry and thanks.

Although this thread has been long forgotten for weeks, posting again just to answer a question posed earlier.

BS/MD programs do not count as early notification programs, and so I would have been able to apply to the Stanford Early Action program. However, the deadline for the Baccalaureate/MD program at USC is December 1, about a month before the Regular Decision deadline. If anyone is planning to apply to both, it is not possible.

If you don’t mind me asking, what was your REA decision?

Sorry, I should have updated the first post or made it clearer. I didn’t apply to the REA because of the problem mentioned in the post before. I applied to the USC Baccalaureate/MD program, so the Stanford REA’s conditions could not be met.

idaisyi, you have great chances at places like the Ivies and Stanford because of your amazing scores. Unfortunately, I don’t think that your medical extracurriculars, at least from what I can see, are deep enough for places like Northwestern HPME. That’s just me. Of course, essays play a large role. What other combined programs have you applied to?

Good luck!
