Scores (Probably my weakest part):
SAT: 2090 (will take one more time)
PSAT: 203
SAT II: Chemistry - 680, Math II - 750

I feel like Stanford and the IVY League's may be out of the question, but I think I might have a shot at Tier 2 schools like Rice, Berkley, and Northwestern.

You have amazing grades and ECs! As long as you get your SAT up to at least 2150, you’ll be a super competitive applicant!

With a 2150+ SAT…
Stanford: high reach
UChicago: mid reach
Berkeley: low reach
Northwestern: high match
Rice: high match

Good luck :)

Thanks for the reply! :)

bump.

Berkeley you should be a match for economic/cognitive science in my opinion! Not sure about the others but your ECs and grades are awesome! work on your SAT  good luck

Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1533472-chance-me-top-business-schools-please.html

Sorry forget about other schools since I am most familiar with cali schools. Stanford is hella hard to get into, it’s the californian Harvard LOL. Northwestern you should be fine really. Not sure about Rice or Uchicago.

The above posters said you have amazing/awesome grades, but based on your class rank you’re not even in the top 3%. I’m not saying that your grades/rank aren’t great, but it could be a toss up either way at some of the selective schools you’ll be targeting.

Also, your SAT is definitely low as you already realize. Getting a 2250+ would improve your chances dramatically, but just do your best regardless. Have you tried the ACT? You may find that you’ll do a lot better on it instead.

Really focus on getting a high SAT/ACT score. Do really well 1st semester senior year so that it will reflect in your mid-year report. The competition for many of the colleges you’ll be applying to (Northwestern, Rice, Berkeley, etc) will be tough and being asian won’t help either. Good luck!

Bring up your score a little bit, then you should have a better chance for Rice. Oos for Berkeley is very competitive and expensive.

Like you said, the ivies and Stanford are a reach, as well as the rest on your app, but they are for everyone. I would say mid-high reach for those, but a low-reach for UCB and rice.

Thanks for all the input thus far!

SAT128: You’re right that currently I’m only in the top 3.3%, but there’re a couple of things about the ranking that I forgot to mention. First off, this is the ranking from the last semester of Junior year, so it won’t be the one I’m sending in. The number of kids in the class used to be 656, but it seems that a lot of kids dropped (this is very typical and happens to every senior class). As far as I know I’ve moved up in the rankings, but I haven’t been told by how much. Lastly, my school holds a magnet program (which I got into but I cordially declined). The kids in that magnet program take about the first 15 or so ranks. So, without the magnet program, I’m about 5/558 which puts me into the top 1%. Now, I’m not sure how colleges look at magnet programs and their impact on class rankings. Thanks for the input though! I agree that my SAT is really pulling me down right now. I’ll be taking the ACT soon as well!

billcsho: Yeah, I agree. Berkeley is expensive! If I were to get into both I’d choose Rice. Just fits me, personally, a bit more. Also, I only live an hour away from it, so it’s not too much of an adjustment.

bilnythesciguy: It would definitely be pretentious for anyone to say that the IVY’s/Stanford are anything less than a reach for them. Thanks for the input though!

Thanks for the instructive advice, everyone!
