High School's Male Scholar athlete of the year

7 APs Senior Year

Recs: One outstanding, one very good.

Major: Computer Science or Computer Engineering

Applying: Vanderbilt (ED), Stanford, Carnegie Mellon, Loyola Maryland, UMBC

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Overall, great grades, but what happened with your test scores? Time to redo or take the ACT. Natl Merit commended isn’t worth mentioning.

Vanderbilt (ED): ED is best shot. Work on that essay. Also, be sure to apply (separately) for their scholarship, even if you don’t “need” the $$$. It just shows you’re really interested.
Stanford, don’t bother (sorry).
Carnegie Mellon, try it, but…
Loyola Maryland, good choice. safety?
UMBC… in-state? You’ll get in.

Thank you very much, I appreciate the input. The two bottom schools are safeties, and Stanford is an intense reach.

Retake SAT or take the ACT. Also, I don’t know the specifics for the other schools on your list, but unless you’re applying to CMU’s School of Art, Design, Drama, or Music, you need two SAT Subject Tests.
I don’t have time to retake tests now, at least not for Vandy’s ED

Stanford is way out of the picture.
