I’m a 12th grader wondering what my chances are for acceptance into Syracuse, Villanova, Penn State, and Temple. I know they are somewhat selective colleges with acceptance rates around 40-70%. I plan to major in communications, business, or visual arts. Here are my stats:
GPA: 3.1 UW, 4.6 W
I took all honors in 9th grade, I messed up my schedule & thought the honors was equivalent of academic for 10th grade (high school started in 10th grade for me) but didn’t realize until I couldn’t change it, so this lowered my weighted GPA. Then, in 11th grade I went back to honors English & History, which are my 2 strongest subjects. However, my concern is around the fact that I mostly got B’s on my report cards each year.
SAT: 1820/2400 (I got this twice with 550/560 math, 630/640 critical reading, 620/640 writing)
Taking it again on October 1st
Extracurriculars:
Key Club (10-12)
Table Tennis club (10-11)
FBLA (10-12)
Sunday school teacher at my church (10-11)
YouTube (9-12) I’ve run an animation channel on YouTube since 8th grade. I animate characters based on a virtual world I used to play and make little skits/music videos out of them. Should I include this and if so, how? My channel has 4k subscribers and 1 million views.
Work- athletic apparel/running store (10-12)
Work- summer camp from late June to early August (9-12)
Sports: Track & field (9-12) 4-year varsity letter athlete, state championship finalist for 4x800m relay
-English has always been a strong subject of mine, but I didn’t take the AP exam in spring of junior year. Should I take it in spring of senior year or is that too late if the regular decision deadlines are January 2017?
-Is there anything I can take/do outside of class to boost my application to a higher level?
