<p>Colleges I am interested in:
Rice University- (Would be amazing if I get accepted here but I have a feeling I may not be good enough)
UT Austin- 2nd best school in Texas?
UT Dallas- I live in Dallas so this would not be a bad choice either. Does this school offer good scholarships?
Baylor U- Well known I guess. Don't really know if I want to go here.
Texas A&M- Somewhat interested.
I would prefer going to school that is not very expensive or offers good scholarship programs. My family doesn't exactly have the funds to pay for my college.</p>

<p>Goals: Want to become a surgeon. I volunteered at Baylor Medical Center all summer long and I found that I really enjoyed surgery. Medical School will likely be extremely hard to get into.</p>

<p>Degree: I am not exactly sure what degree I want. I really like both business and medicine. Maybe I can get a dual major? Any suggestions?</p>

Resident: Texas (I have been living here for 12 years)
Rank: 45/712 top 6.3%. This will likely increase by the end of this year to maybe 35/712?
GPA- UW 3.71 W 4.6
My School is rated exemplary and usually produces around 20 National Merit Scholars per year.
SAT- Just took it today and am expecting between 1900-2250
PSAT- Expecting 180-220</p>

Volunteered at Baylor- 100 hours
Volunteered at Carrollton Muslim Association- 20 hours
I tried student council for a year but i found that it was a really a joke at my school since we hardly did anything.
NHS- I could have gotten in last year but I didn't have enough credit hours. I will definitely get in this year. </p>

<p>I am not sure if you are aware of this fact, but you can get into any public Texas university if you are at least in the top 8% of your graduating class, in the case of UT Austin, or the top 10% in the case of the others. From what you’ve stated, you’re on track to meeting this goal. If you’re interested in any of the honors programs, I also think you stand a fair chance as long as you get around a 2000+ on your SAT.</p>

<p>As far as your chances of being admitted into Rice go, I do not think they are very good. Academically, you are in the lower quartile of applicants, most of which have an unweighted GPA of at least 3.8 and a composite SAT score of around 2100. In addition, your extracurricular activities are, sadly, rather generic and do not stand out much. Of course, your ECs are by no means bad either, but you could certainly improve your application in that area by taking up some leadership positions without necessarily joining other clubs you may not be interested in.</p>
