I am a senior in high school and plan on applying as either a biology, chemistry, or biochem major to get pharmacy school prerequisites out of the way and based on which one gives me the greatest chance of admission. So the schools imm applying to are UT Austin, TCU, Baylor, and Texas Tech, UT being the number one choice but imo a pretty far reach. I have given CAP thought but I’d have to go to Arlington and really don’t care for the campus or vibe. So here are my stats and extracurriculars, and I’m only going to list the ones I was pretty involved in.
GPA: 4.357
Unweighted: 3.469
Class rank 128/450 (28th percent, should I include my massive upward trend as I used to be 256?)
ACT: 29, Math: 27 Reading: 33, Science: 28, Writing: 27
9 AP classes, 6 of which I’m taking this year and i know UT pharmacy school doesn’t accept Bio or chem tests but I’m going to take them anyway.
EC: I have been heavily involved with band, and am considered a phenomenal trumpet player. I am lead for Jazz band both school and a jazz camp I do over summer, play in orchestra, concert band and marching band which I’m a section leader. I have placed top 5 in the region every year since sophomore year and moved on to either record for state jazz, or audition for state band but i haven’t made it yet… (could continuing on with band in college improv admission chances?). Im also pretty involved in the science club at my school, as well as the cooking club which was started this year. I’ll have about 100 hours of various community service work, work at a bakery for the last year and a half, and will be entereing CVS pharmacy tech program very soon.
Ill have a letter of recommendation from my AP physics teacher and I feel fairly confident that I can write a creative unique essay, but then again who can’t?
One final question, if I’m rejected from UT should I do CAP or go to one of the schools listed and transfer from there?
Any and all responses are greatly appreciated!
