I applied for EECS, and I'm having worries because I got a few B's junior year, and I just don't stand out. Thanks for your time!

Being a female EE makes you stand out, though it probably won't add or retract to your application. My stats are very similar (pretty good SAT scores, mediocre to good GPA for Engineering, average ECs) and I applied for Engineering Undeclared so we're in a similar boat. Former applicants have claimed that ECs don't really play a significant role, thank God. Hopefully you wrote about engineering in your personal statement. Junior screwed me big time too (4 B's total) -- got obsessed with an MMORPG which shall not be named. Good luck, as my fate will probably be the same as yours :)

Nope. She's even above average for an Asian girl. I know it's hard to believe, but there are actually average Asians in the world. There are even DUMB Asians.

::Everyone shats bricks at this revelation::

I know that, but it boggles the mind to see someone asking about their chances when they're pretty much a lock. Do they need confirmation of how smart they are?

I had a 2300 and a slightly higher GPA and I applied EECS. I ended up getting Regents, meaning I'm in at Berkeley. Therefore, if you write an interesting personal statement emphasizing your interest in engineering, I think you have good chances. Good luck!

Sorry if I offended anybody, but I know a few people who are way smarter than me and were rejected from Berkeley EECS (but somehow one was accepted to MIT). Also, I know my SAT score is above average, but my grades (for the people at my school) are only about average, and I think those are more important. Also, my ECs aren't that great and my essay, though it did center on engineering, was average.

nikeswooshguy: Last year, I took Chem (5), Calc BC (5), US History (4). This year, I am taking Lang, Stats, Physics B, and Spanish Lang. This is considered above normal at my school, but seeing a lot of people on these forums it doesn't seem like a lot.

Anyway, thanks for your guys' feedback. Berkeley is one of my top choices and I was worried (and still kinda am).

Does any one know what determines qualifying for the Regents? My friend did not receive ELC status, but he got Regents for UCB EECS... a little confusing.
