Chances for the Indiana Academy for Science, Mathematics, and Humanities?

I’m a freshman in Indiana and I want to apply for IASMH next year.

Age: 14
Gender: Female
Income: 50k

GPA: 3.89 UW right now, probably will go up to a 3.94+ after this year
SAT: Right now I’m practicing around a 1190, but that will hopefully go up to a 1300+ after Algebra 2 and studying this year- I’m taking it in June

Extracurriculars:

Basketball- 4 years, I’m not very good but I work very hard, almost certainly JV starter or 6th man

Track- 3 years, I’m pretty decent, I’m going to be on Varsity, I was 8th in the conference championship last year and I won a bunch of 2nd and 3rd place ribbons at almost every meet- I throw shot and disc. I’ve been lifting so there’s a chance I’ll throw 95-100+ feet this year

Key Club- I’m going to join the Key Club this year

Student Council- I’m almost certainly doing Student Council, and I don’t have a doubt in my mind that I will be Class President or the highest position I can hold in my grade. I don’t mean to be cocky but genuinely the entire grade has told me they’d vote for me.

Spanish Club- I do this during my homeroom/activity period every Wednesday.

Tutoring- Last year I tutored a 6th grade boy in all of his subjects, I’m probably going to list this because it was a few hours twice a week and I created lesson plans and stuff for him.

NJHS- This is also from last year, I’m not sure if I should put it down. I was NJHS President and I ran all of the meetings, created plans and fundraisers for the chapter, etc.

Church softball team- I’m on my church’s adult league softball team. I’m no good but it is incredibly fun and I spend a few nights a week on games.

Cross country- I did cross country for 2 years in middle school (7th and 8th grade). I don’t know if I’ll say anything about this because I’m not doing it in high school

Geography Team- I was the captain of my school’s Geography Team last year. We got 2nd in conference, I only missed 1 question myself which was best in the competition

Summer Job- I work with my dad every summer, about 40 hours a week. He lays floor, I help hand him tools and clean up after him.

Classes:

9th grade-

Tech and English 9 (gifted class)
Spanish 2
Algebra 2 Advanced
Environmental Science (upperclassman class)
Theater Arts 1/Physical Education
Biology 1

10th grade-

AP English Language and Composition
AP US History
Either Pre-Calculus or AP Calculus AB, I don’t know if I’ll take Pre-Calc over the summer
AP Computer Science Principles
Chemistry 1
Health Education/Advanced Theater Arts
Spanish 3

I passed my Algebra 1 final with a 96.

I’ve taken everything Honors when applicable, but that’s only English and Mathematics.

I think I’m top 10 starting freshman year, I definitely will be by the end though, I had a B in Spanish 1 which is dragging me down but that was in 8th grade and I’ve got 1 and like a fourth of a year to bring that up.

My recommendations should be really good, my teachers all like me and so does the guidance counselor. I expect them to be at least an 8/10 and up.

I’m going to work really hard on my essays, hopefully I can do really well on them and obviously if I do that’d be a big boost.

Please chance me at the start of my freshman year. I understand I still have a year before I apply but it’d make me feel better to know if I’m on the right track!

Apply.

I am there currently and let me tell you,
this is the place to be if you are in Indiana.

They are trying to expand into a 3 year school, so they are accepting a few sophomores. I know there are 2 residentials and 3 NECPs this year. I would try to go early if they will let you. You already seem to be taking classes that many juniors are coming in with.

Come visit! We would be more than happy to show you around after everybody gets settled into classes here in a couple weeks.

Oh my goodness! That sounds amazing, to go for 3 years. How can I go about this?

I’m coming down next weekend. My sister is actually a freshman at Ball State! Thank you for telling me! @academite
