Chances for the UCs

Haven't been on here for a while. I've completed my freshman year of college and might possibly try to transfer to a different university. My current stats are:

College: University of Washington: Seattle campus
GPA: 3.85
Intended major: CS

Courses:
1st/2nd quarter Calc: 4.0
3rd quarter Calc: 3.6
1st quarter CSE: 3.8
2nd quarter CSE: 3.6
1st quarter Chem:3.7
English Comp: 4.0
VoiceArticulation: 4.0
Geology: 4.0

Would it be a stretch for me to transfer into either UCLA or UCB? The course load is considerably tough since UW is also a generally competitive school for CSE, ranking near UCLA.

Frost,

Although your chances may not be overwhelming, that is not to say you don’t have one. I would definitely apply! Several of my friends have transferred with similar and/or worse statistics than yours. I’d say go for it.

You have a solid shot, but coming from an OOS university puts you at a major disadvantage. Honestly you’re a long-shot simply because of that. I’d definitely apply, but your chances are fairly borderline.

Okay that sounds fair. Thank you for the replies!

I thought Ucla & Cal were accepting more OOS in order to get more $$$ but I just checked & they only accepted 7.28% out of state transfers… for a whopping # 31 students… It’s definitely possible but you have to be a bad@ss!! I’d step it up a bit if you can…

Your grades are solid, but what will make the difference are EC’s that show truly unique character.
