Hi, I’m a current junior at a top ranked school in Illinois. My ACT is a 26 and my weighted GPA is a 2.97. While I am well above the ACT requirement, I am .03 off of the GPA requirement. Will this be a dealbreaker or do you think I’ll be accepted??
Is there any reason that your GPA is low? Medical problems or family circumstances? If so, I’d recommend scheduling an interview to explain.
You should retake ACT and aim for a 28-30 range.
If deferred initially, make sure to do well 1st semester to bump GPA up to 3.0+
Otherwise you stand a medium-low chance.
Chance me?

Would your weighted GPA be higher? UA will use your weighted GPA if it’s on your transcript.
@jubilant56 ironically it’s taking higher placement classes then i should be in in order to push myself and do better in high school. I wanted to have a personal statement but to my knowledge I don’t believe they offer those for the app.
@SouthFloridaMom9 that is my weighted GPA.
@esjhss17 Colleges do take into consideration the rigor of the classes you took. Like navynorthwestern said, work on boosting your GPA and ACT scores this semester.
Apply soon and you’ll be accepted. Bama is lenient at the beginning of the app season. don’t worry. You’ll be accepted. Even if Bama wanted to see higher scores or GPA, they would tell you to submit later scores…but don’t worry…apply very soon and you’ll be accepted by Sept/Oct.

I don’t think the #2 high school in the nation is in Illinois.
Maybe you mean the #2 high school in Illinois. The #2 schools in Illinois is Peyton Prep. The #3 high school in Illinois is Young Magnet. The #1 school in Illinois is Northside College Prep.
You mention in a thread that you need scholarships. Think about it…if you’re worried that you won’t get accepted because of your GPA, that means that you won’t get scholarships…right? Scholarships are for TOP students…not for students who are borderline acceptees, rights?
Talk to your parents about how much they’ll pay.
Even Illinois publics are expensive and you don’t qualify for merit with a sub 3.0 GPA and ACT 26
