Hi, first of I would like to say that I know ND is my biggest reach school, if I was accepted it would be my first choice.

-Currently have a 3.5-3.6 GPA unweighted (In my Junior year) 30 ACT score.
-extracurriculars consisting of track, indoor track, management of a sport team, 3 clubs.
-I don't have a whole lot of AP/Honors because at my HS you need to meet certain expectations/guidelines.
-Attend top HS in my state, very rigorous.
-90 hours of community service.
-Great recommendations and essay.
-Attended Pre-college program last summer, also will be this summer.
-My major is undecided.
-award wining photographer, in many local art shows.
-Honor awards.
-Internship at local hospital.
-I also have a recommendation from a holy ghost father.
Thank you!

Both of these schools seem like pretty far reaches considering that grades are most important. Never rule it out though! What is your ethnicity? Are you in-state at Michigan? THat would help QUITE a bit. Out of state would be similar to Notre Dame, if not less likely, as ND takes more interest in extra-curriculars, while Michigan looks more at GPA/test scores quite extensively.

ND: Medium Reach
UMI: Low Match-Med Reach (Don’t know the school well, kinda ball-parking here)

I’d strongly recommend bringing that 30 ACT up if you can. A jump to a 33 or a 34 can open up some merit scholarships to you (as well as admission!), if that isn’t too hard. Additionally, I’d work for some more awards/competitions/etc if you have the time; that recommendation is pretty good though, especially for a school like ND!

GPA’s kinda merh. Try to aim for a heavy senior class load that’ll bring it up a bit. Definitely shines on your resume (and if you don’t, kinda tarnishes it…) if you do.

Keep up the good work though. I really hope you make it in to ND; I’m hoping to be there with you (minus the outrageous costs…50k a year is a LOT :C)
