Chances for these schools?

Okay so my GPA is 92, or 3.74 (weighted). I am a white male, 1800 on my first SAT (600 math, 520 reading, 680 writing), and 1680 on my second SAT (600 math, 480 reading, 600 writing). I have a ton of extracurricular activities, service hours, and leadership positions.

What are my chances for the following schools: Miami (FL), Georgia Tech, Fordham, Binghamton, Stony Brook, Drexel, Alabama?

Thanks in advance. I really appreciate it.

*Also, I understand that Miami (FL) and Georgia Tech would definitely be reach schools. I just want some feedback because from what I was told it is unlikely that I would get in, I just want more opinions.

Anyone???

I figured Georgia Tech and Miami were too hard, but I would really really really appreciate it if someone chanced me.

Why am I being completely ignored here?

Please!!!

What courses did you take in junior year and what were your grades?

I took:
Integrated Algebra 2 Honors (aka Trig Honors)-86
Spanish 3 Honors-100
Regular English 11-91
Regular US History-90
Regular Chemistry-82
And also gym and religion which I had 98 and 99 in but aren’t really important and barely count towards my GPA.

Yeah I picked a bad year to do so poorly in, but to be fair I had psychotic teachers for Algebra 2 Honors and Chemistry, not that that means anything or colleges care, but I felt like making excuses for myself.

And thanks for replying :)

Oh, and I’m getting recommendation letters from my English teacher (I did really well in his class except for one quarter where I kept getting sick during important dates in that class, but he really liked me and I know he’s writing good letters since he loved me as a student and as a person, and I always participated and helped others), my US History teacher (I did got a 95 in the final quarter and a 97 on the regents exam so I left a good impression for him, and he is active in the school and always sees me volunteering at school events), and my guidance counselor who knows about all of my extracurricular activities and leadership positions.

you got good chance for Tech

^Really? Or is that just sarcasm?

You are going to be miserable at Tech and Miami, trying to keep up. The rest of your choices are fine. What do you want to study and how did you pick these colleges? I am having a hard time finding a common thread. Drexel, Fordham and Bama?

I chose Fordham because I live in New York, have been on the campus, and am staying overnight there next month since I have a friend that goes there. I also am planning on applying to other local schools like Queens, St. Johns, St. Francis, etc. but I know I will get in there so I’m not really worried about them. I also am thinking about applying to several schools out of state, and Drexel is one of them because my dad really wanted me to look into it for some strange reason. And Bama I guess is just totally random, I’m not sure why. They had a representative at my school and I found it to be an interesting school.

At the moment, I’m not sure what I want to major in. I’m definitely trying to avoid anything with the sciences. I’m thinking about business, or maybe history/political science. I’m even slightly considering Spanish since I’ve always somehow had 99s and 100s in it and am currently taking AP even though I am not a native. Basically, I’m unsure at this point.

That is another reason why I probably shouldn’t apply to Tech (as I’m not going to be an engineer), but my aunt and uncle just want me to apply there because their son goes there. I definitely won’t go there, but I just want to know if I have any chance of getting in.

Bumpppppppppppp

Bump…

Anyone else? Please I need to know if it is worth it to apply to these schools

Please.

I’ve decided I will definitely apply to:
Binghamton
Stony Brook
CUNY Queens
St. John’s
St. Francis (NY)
Fordham
UNLV

I plan on applying to ~12 schools. Am considering:
Albany
Adelphi
Sacred Heart
Miami (FL)
Georgia Tech
Alabama
Tampa
USF

Over the past few days, I’ve eliminated Drexel, Monmouth, and Florida Gulf Coast.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve eliminated many schools like CW Post, Rutgers, Rhode Island, Hartford, Hofstra, Manhattan, Iona, Marist, etc.

Miami and Georgia tech are reaches. But you have a great chance in getting into the schools you have listed.

Chance me
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1411056-university-san-diego-university-san-francisco-nyu-university-washington.html

The only problem I see with your application is that your SAT scores went down the second time you took them…

The rest looks pretty good for the schools you’re applying to. Tech and Miami are reaches obviously. It seems like you have a lot of safeties though.

Thank you both!

JustinBryce, I will chance you ASAP!

ARisingSenior, I really thought I did much better the second time. I was expecting about a 1900-1950. I was shocked when I got my scores back, but what can I do now? Oh well, I only have to send one score so I will obviously send the first one. And yeah I knew Tech and Miami would be reaches, but as you said I have so many safety schools so I thought I needed a few reaches and I visited Tech since my cousin goes there and am possibly visiting Miami and the other Florida schools in February.

Please!!!

Anyone else?

Okay so in the end I applied to 12 schools and am applying to 3 more (crazy, I know, I know). I also got into the National Honor Society so that has been added to all of my applications except for Georgia Tech because they didn’t allow me to add that to my application (everyone else did!). Unfair in my opinion because at the time I submitted my application, I was unaware that I was going to be in the National Honor Society, but I guess I got penalized for trying to do my applications earlier…

And I’m staying overnight at Fordham (my friend goes there) in a few weeks, so do you guys think it will be beneficial to take a tour there as well, just so they have my name down?
