und bump

shall I bump? indeed I shall!

jesus christ,
you have a huge ego, you know you’ll get into these schools with your extracurriculars and grades, so why post here? Do you want to show the world of your accomplishment because you feel like you don’t get enough of it?

a lot of backdoor bragging

This highlights the ignorance of “chancers”. Graduate school “legacy” doesn’t factor into undegraduate admissions.

Jaded much, HYPSMhopeful? hahaha. You make a good point though - I’m not expecting admissions officers to read this and rate it (although that would be AWESOME)!

I just kind of ignored that particular sentence… At this point, what matters more is suggestions of things that could hold me back.

and the silence stretches on

Harvard might be slightly easier to get in than it normally would since you’re a legacy. Still, its a reach. But do apply anyways- you only go through this process once

good point, theespys69. Why the heck not go for it?

This is kind of not really related to anything, but it’s an opinion question that is relevant to the overall subject.

The research I do during summers and school breaks concerns shrimp and other farmed marine life, and this type of research is my career choice as it is. It’s resulted in international travel to do research alongside some very bright people (I funded myself) that actually ended up being my essay focus. My “specialty” is hyperglycemia (you don’t need to know what that is) and has led to me coauthoring two published mansucripts and putting in a whole lot of lab work, which anchors my entire EC load. The doctor I work with recently approached me with an option to create an abstract for a review of all current literature on hyperglycemia I had written.

If it all goes according to plan, I’d probably end up delivering a lecture on this subject at the annual meeting of the World Aquaculture Society in Louisiana this February. The WAS is made up of doctors from 94 total countries, and I would without a doubt be the youngest lecturer ever.

My thought is, would this make a difference if it hasn’t happened by the time I apply? Basically, if everything’s been submitted and this is just sort of a future plan on the app, would it still cause me to maybe get tipped for admission into Harvard? Thanks for any responses… just a straightforward opinion question, guys.
