Expect recommendations to be decent, essays to be great

Colleges (not finalized):
UCLA, UC Berkeley, UCSD, UCI
USC, NYU, Stanford, Carnegie Mellon, Northwestern
Duke, UPenn, Dartmouth, Cornell, Brown, Columbia

I’m probably going to replace a few of these reaches with more matches/safeties, but I just wanted an idea on these schools. My biggest worry right now is my lack of prestigious extracurriculars, and I’m trying to make up for that by focusing on essays. Are there any schools that you recommend for me (especially matches)?

Thank you :slight_smile:

  1. Love your username.
  2. GPA and SAT are great.
  3. Extracurriculars are solid as well, don't kid yourself.

Great chances at most of these schools- Northwestern, Duke, Brown, Columbia, Upenn, Stanford and UCB are reaches but the rest seem pretty good.

Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1905266-chance-me-for-uva-and-william-and-mary.html?new=1

So the fact that your are asking for “Top-20” Schools is kinda dumb and shows you haven’t done any research into the schols

Sorry…I shouldn’t have worded it like that.

@butterbear can you chance me back please since I did yours, http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/19813138/#Comment_19813138

@hyungiwosotha Done :slight_smile:

My daughter with very similar stats as yours (exactly same total SAT score in one sitting!) is now a freshman in UCLA (with a Regents scholarship)!

Hard to make recommendations without knowing what your family can afford
