chances for top 50 colleges?

Hey guys!

I'm a weird a student that wants to transfer out. I'm currently a freshman classified as sophomore student.

High school gpa: 89.6
if it means anything my high school was ranked 143 on the top 1,000 u.s. schools

ive accumulated 38 credits from a community college during high school (on my own time not concurrent) after graduation. All those credits were then transferred to a local university (UT-Pan American) where im currently attending.

current college gpa: 3.605
major: bio/pre-med (like who isn't)
minor:english/chem

im taking 20 hours which is overload and violates alot of labor laws hahaha i had to get signatures from the dean of my major and the dean of the school and the president and blah blah

current courses: chemII, Chem II lab, anatomy and physiology, a&p lab, Political science II, Eng 1301 (retake i got a C last time), Eng 230? world lit, UNIV1301 (college success class)

EC's: shadowed a surgeon for 2 years (still ongoing), lots of volunteerwork, im a CNA, pre-med club, more stuff i can't think of now

if it means anything: im filipino/iranian
i live in the poorest county in the nation
lived as a catholic for 6 years before converting to islam (irrelevant but would make a good essay)
in summers i volunteer in iranian healthcare settings hospitals, clinics, etc..

if you need more info to make an analysis just ask
thanks :)

and ohh irrelevant information: i turned 18 a month ago and im 1st generation
and does knowing a language count as a talent? or for anything?

I believe you have a shot somewhere. Just some advice though, if your a Bio. major/premed, I suggest not taking Anat./Physio unless you finished the Bio sequence.

yeah i did take Bio1 and Bio2 got A's

bumpbumpbumpbumpbump

error i mean 91 on u.s. weekly top 1200 schools

bump.................
bump.........

I'd say just apply widely. Apply mostly to tier 2 schools and maybe a few Ivys.

well definitely apply ot UT-Austin, which is top 50. You've got a great shot there...your personal information (ethnicity) is likely to help you a lot.

I would realistically be looking at ranked 30-50 schools, but definitely throw applications in at even a few top 20 schools with good acceptance rates.

do i have a realistic chance to UCLA? i heard alot of iranians live there and that could be a problem

UCLA is hard for out of state. You can check the stats on their website, but I believe the OOS transfer rate is drastically lower than for CA residents. However, you'r GPA seems around the avg., so it's worth a shot if you like the school.

I may be wrong, but I don't think your ethnicity will be a negative factor in your admission at UCLA.

there isnt like a quota that universities have to meet? like certain white students, black, asian, other?

there isnt a quota they HAVE to meet, but a school might be looking to increase the diversity of their student body, which could also influence whether or not they pay attention to the ethnicity of an applicant when evaluating an application

can someone explain to me the tier system? thanks

will it be easier for me to apply to say Georgetown? because their more famous for their political majors?

buhump.. buhump..
