Chances for top colleges (list of colleges included)? Feedback needed!

I’m currently a senior who is trying to figure out what schools to apply to. I’ve known like a general list for a while, but I really need to know if applying to these schools is a good idea. So without further ado, here are my stats:

Honors Biology
AP Human Geography
Symphonic Marching Band (1st semester)/Concert Band (2nd)
French 1
P.E.

10th Grade:
Honors English 10
Health and Wellness (1st)/Accounting (2nd)
Honors Algebra 2
Anatomy and Physiology
Chemistry
AP European History
French 2

11th Grade:
AP Lang
APUSH
AP Physics 1
AP Chem
AP Psych
Gifted (1st)/AP Macro (2nd)

12th Grade:
Honors Accounting
Computer Graphics (1st)/AP Govt (2nd)
AP Bio
AP Stats
AP Calc BC
AP Physics 2
AP Lit

Outside of school, I’ve been in a religious education class since pre-k. It’s kinda required by my place of worship

I had to stop French in 11th grade because it didn’t work with my schedule…
Number of AP Classes Taken: 14
Unweighted GPA: 3.5476
Weighted GPA: 4.1667

Test Scores:
ACT (without superscore or whatever it’s called) - 29 (will not be reporting this)
SAT - Took it in August, so I’m not sure yet. I do think I got at least a 1400, if not a 1450. The only thing that usually brings down my score is reading
SAT Subject Tests - Have not taken yet, but will take math 2, bio m, and chem

AP Scores (that I think I’ll report, not completely sure if I should): Lang (3), Psych (3), Macro (3)

Extracurriculars:
Founder and President of HOSA (12)
President of GSA (9-12)
Academic Decathlon (11-12)
Relay for Life (9-10, 12; hopefully going to be on the committee this year, will probably do accounting)
NHS (11-12; District Tutoring Project Leader)
English NHS (11-12)
French NHS (10-12)
Mu Alpha Theta (11-12)
DECA (12)
Social Studies NHS (12; this was just made at my school, but I’m guessing I’ll be a member)
Volunteer at a public library since August 2014 (flexible hours aka I can go in whenever I want)
Worked at Kumon from September 2015 to January 2017
Assistant at a clinic (once a month since May 2016; check weight, blood pressure, and glucose of patients)
Writer for Affinity Magazine since June 2017
Religious Education Teacher since August 2016
Shadowed three doctors in March 2017
Student Leader at the Ismaili Center from July 2017 to July 2018
Cashier/Assistant Manager for my family’s convenience stores (June 2016 to present)
Will be starting research with a doctor at a medical center soon (will be performing immunohistochemical staining on human pancreas tissue samples)

Awards:
Somehow got principal’s honor roll every year
AP Scholar for tests taken May 2017
3rd place in math in my division at the state academic decathlon
Not even sure how many hours of community service I have, but I’m guessing it’s over 150

Letters of Recommendation:
Stats teacher - She had me for accelerated, so this is my second year with her. She seems to really like me and she’s not mean to me like with other people. Probably a 6 or 7/10
Bio teacher - She had me for honors and ap, so again, second year with her. I want to major in biology, so I think that really helps me connect with her. Again, probably a 6 or 7/10
Counselor - I’ve been talking to her since the first day of high school. She knows way too much about me. Probably 8 or 9/10
(For UMKC 6 Year Med): Religious Education Teacher - This is my third year with her I think. She REALLY likes me. I would think her recommendation is a 9/10

Born in Illinois. Raised in Kansas. Muslim. 4th and youngest kid. I hope to major in biology or whatever has to do with anatomy. My plan is to go to medical school after undergrad (unless I end up at a BS/MD program)

Schools that Are On My List:
KU (safety)
UMKC 6 year med
Northwestern HPME
UChicago
Johns Hopkins
Columbia
UPenn
UC Berkeley
UCLA
Emory
UNC
UMich
NYU
Brown PLME
USC
Cornell
Yale

I’m not sure how the HPME and PLME programs work. If I am rejected by the medical school, am I still considered for regular decision Northwestern/Brown, or am I entirely rejected from the undergraduate school too?

For the UMKC 6 year medical program, I have some mixed feelings. I know if I end up at like Johns Hopkins or something for medical school, I probably have a better chance of finding a prestigious residency program. But if I go to UMKC, I don’t have to worry about the MCAT nor do I have to think about getting into medical school because I will have already been accepted. And the fact that the UMKC 6 year med program is not ranked kind of stresses me out. Like, is it bad that it’s not ranked? Or is it because you can’t compare a 6 year program to a normal 4 year medical school?

I know my GPA is not the best, but I guess I’ll send the weighted one if I have the option. Tell me what you guys think. If you need anything else from me, feel free to ask! I feel like I’m going to be wasting money by applying to those schools, but I’m also like my extracurriculars seem pretty nice. I also took the hardest classes available (14 AP) which sucked but I REALLY want to get into at least one of the schools on the list. So yeah… If you think you have a school that is a better fit for my stats, go ahead and tell me! Honestly, anything helps.

Thanks for reading!!!

You do have a very rigor curriculum. However, your GPA suffered at the same time. It does not matter even if you submit your wGPA or uwGPA. Having just 2 years of foreign language also makes your application not very appealing. A strong test score is another thing missing. You do need to look for match schools. Vast majority of schools on your list are pretty high reaches to out of reach.

With a 3.5476 unweighted GPA, all college on your list except maybe KU are reaches (and some are unrealistic reaches).

Also, consider your cost constraints, and the fact that medical school is expensive, so you want to avoid debt and save money as an undergraduate.

work on standardized tests scores and get them as high as possible (SAT>1500 for ivies, ACT>32), also NHS, NMSF would help; you only self report AP scores when you apply, don’t need to send any AP scores with your application. Just send AP scores once accepted to the school you will attend for placement/ credit.

NHS and NMSF does not help much, if at all, for top schools. Both are very typical among applicants to to top schools. The corresponding SAT score for the NMSF cutoff scores at some states are likely lower than the admission averages of many top schools.

You seem to have suffered a bit with your GPA. However, always remember that grades and ACT/SAT score are not everything. Admission Advisers also look at what you have done outside of school besides your community service and such. Some school’s that I know especially that do this are UCLA, UC Davis, UCSD and USC. I luckily got accepted into those schools with a similar GPA to your’s and a ACT score of 30. But, what kept me a bit more unique is that I have a business and lots experience with marketing and administration which I self taught myself as well as speak 4 languages. The reason I am telling you this is not to put you down, it’s to tell you that you need to do some extra curricular activities. I know a friend who got denied from UCLA with a 4.5 overall GPA and an ACT score of 34. The reason was because he did not have any extra curricular activities.

Anyways, Good luck!

Wow! You seem like a very smart person! I think a lot of these schools are reaches (for most people who qualify as well) I would work on finding some middle-ground school? Also, is medical school the route your sure on? A lot of people go in, but quickly change their minds. If your pursing the 6 year programs, you need to be positive. But all in all, you would like a good candidate

@carefreegirlll :…a very smart person would never calculate/present his/her GPA to 4 decimal digits!
(Sorry, it is not supposed to be an insult)

@Kentriko Your not insulting me. Your insulting the person who posted this, plus your comment was very irrelevant and unnecessary. They worked hard and they put themselves out there. Doesn’t matter if they used 4 decimal digits or not
