I think that's mostly it. I'm going to try to get an internship this summer.

I want to major in Creative Writing and Gender and Sexuality Studies.

What are my chances at schools like: Haverford, Swarthmore, Middlebury, Oberlin, Kenyon, and Brown?

Also: what should I do to improve my chances?

I think you have excellent chances at all of these schools. Best of luck!

Thank you. I’m really nervous about schools because of my lowish GPA. I got one B- in sophomore year (although I have a very good reason that I plan on explaining), which I fear will be the death of my chances.

I think LACs are a graet choice if you feel like you have something you want to explain like the B- b/c schools like Haverford, Swarthmore, and Kenyon have very personalized admissions processes. They really study and spend time on each file.

Good luck.

“No need of financial aid”

You’re in with your scores. Enough said.

(Think I have a shot at Middlebury ED2?) http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/696422-what-schools-do-you-guys-think-would-accept-me-if-i-did-ed-there.html</a></p>

Haha. I don’t think the not needing financial aid will really help though.

And I’d try to help, but seeing as I’m posting here too, I don’t really know much about chances or what kinds of things Middlebury wants. I wish I did. xD

Bumping this up for more people to seee. I really want some opinions.

i think your unique choice of major will definately help in the admissions process…im sure they’re all sick of philosophy and psych majors…

i had a friend with lesser stats who needed money get into Kenyon, so i say youre a shoo-in there

Haverford and Swarthmore are both matches

Middlebury-i have no idea about their admissions

and Oberlin and Brown? without a hook. i 'd say high reaches…but def worth a shot…you have a better chance than most

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/697634-chances-tulane-carthage-union-bw-i-will-chance-back.html#post1062348328</a></p>

I’d say Brown is definitely a reach, as it is for almost anyone, and Swarthmore and Middlebury are slight reaches, but you still certainly have a chance. Oberlin and Haverford should be about on par with you, and Kenyon is pretty much in the bag.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/697672-chances-nd-dartmouth-etc.html</a></p>

Thank you! I’d agree with that. Surprisingly though, Kenyon is one of my top choices aside from Brown. Haha.

Also, I forgot to add Wesleyan to the list. Any opinions?

A bump for this.

Really really strong chances. And yes, not needing financial aid will help A LOT during this economic downturn (though the economy will hopefully improve next yr). Your choices of majors are very unique and your ECs are strong. Have you considered Vassar? It’s a lot like Brown, Oberlin, Wesleyan, and other schools on your list.

you have a decent chance at all of the schools you listed, but most of those schools are need-blind… so if they are adhering to their policies, your not needing financial aid will not help you get in. regardless, you have a fighting chance

Thanks guys. And yeah, a lot of the schools I’m applying to are need-blind. Maybe I’ll try and get some that are not.

And yeah, I have thought about Vassar, however, the girl-guy ratio throws me a bit off of it.

Another bump for this. =]

And another…
