Schools:
Duke (ED)
Princeton (EA)
Yale RD
Stanford RD
Penn RD
U of Michigan RD
USC RD
Boston College
Northeastern (safety)

Duke (ED) high match, but I will be surprised if you get deferred or rejected
Princeton (EA) reach, unlikely just like most unhooked applicants
Yale RD reach, ditto
Stanford RD reach, ditto
Penn RD lower reach with the best shot
U of Michigan RD lower match
USC RD low match
Boston College lower match
Northeastern (safety)<<<

You are a well-rounded, solid applicant who has a good list of schools. Hopefully, you are not dependent on lots of merit aid at some of the match schools on your list such as Michigan and BC. You have realistic shots at all and you just may even get into one of your Ivy/Ivy-equivalent schools in addition to Duke. You seem to have either reaches or lower matches. I’m kind of surprised that you didn’t consider some higher match/lower reach schools like: WashUStL, Rice, Northwestern, Georgetown, and Notre Dame* (*where being Jewish, like BC, won’t prevent you from attending:))

Thanks for your opinion. It may not be obvious but I also plan on attending med school. The reason I applied to so many Ivies is because of their reputation for stellar FA packages (the more on my list, the greater my chances), so I need to save most of my money for medical school. Ex: Georgetown is need blind and is less likely to give me a good package. If I do go to the West coast (preferable), it has to be on a lot of mullah. But nothing is wrong with east coast, except I MUST leave NY. Midwest is eh

You are a shoo-in to be accepted to USC. It might almost be considered a safety. They love their National Merit Scholars so hopefully you will get a nice FA package from them. Don’t expect anything in the way of merit-aid from BC (I’m a BC parent) and very little from UMichigan. If the RD deadlines haven’t passed yet you might also want to consider Tufts, Emory, and Davidson-- good pre-med/science programs.

jshain, I am sorry that he “got you” too and that you (like me) took the time to respond sincerely and try to offer advice. This is a sophomore who has invented the above resume. While I admire his ambition, the information he posts just gets more and more ridiculous - this time it is a 232 PSAT…

Here is his first post from 11-2-2011 (though at this point I have to assume much of this is made-up as well):

I think Duke was a good choice for ED. You have strong stats but are from a way overrepresented pool. And feeders have lots of legacies, so who in your class has a hook at your school will be key.

Who knows, much will come down to your recs and essays at the ivies.
