Senior courseload:
AP Eng Lit
AP Calc BC
AP Physics
AP Micro
AP US Gov
Honors Theology
Honors Theology Seminar
High Honors Latin Seminar

(12 total APs, most ever at my school)

Awards:
NMF
AP Scholar w/ Distinction
2 NLE gold medals (only took 2 tests)
Some school stuff (High honor roll, school honors program (1 of 11), etc)

ECs:
-Academic team (9-12): varsity captain (10-12), 2009-2010 MVP, compete in ~20 tournaments/year, won many tournaments, hosted 8 tournaments (wrote pyramidal questions for them), over 80 service hours through team, huge time commitment (9 hrs/week)
-Track (10-12): javelin; varsity last year, but school doesn't award track letters for some reason
-Played club hockey until soph year and baseball until last summer (U-19 Legion)
-Co-founded Conservative Society
-Writer and sports editor for school newspaper
-Involved in service/youth ministry activities through Church (attended March for Life, organized and ran fundraiser for St. Jude's that involved me powerwashing people's houses, regularly make sandwiches for a soup kitchen in Newark, taught Vacation Bible School classes at 2 churches, volunteered at American Cancer Society fundraiser)

Essay: unique, to say the least. It focused on a certain ex-con athlete and I talked about forgiveness and second chances.

Recs: never saw any, probably good but not great

I already got into BC (honors), but I think that my lack of involvement in the arts and dearth of awards may hold me back from admission to upper tier schools. It seems as though every Ivy hopeful plays an instrument/does drama or has won a major science/math competition. That being said, what are my chances for:

Princeton
Yale
Dartmouth
Duke
Rice
UVA
Williams
Wake Forest

Of princeton yale dartmouth and duke, you are good for at least one. You seem to have personality going for you, despite having no Uber-tier academic achievements; I think what could make or break you is your essays (michael vick?)

all of the schools you listed are basically crapshoots for anybody. However, you have just as good a chance as anyone else to get in. I see that you have a passion, for the academic team and your service in the church. This gives you a better chance. My guess is that you will get into rice, uva, and wake forest, and will probably be accepted to about half of the other schools. good luck.

Thanks for the responses so far.

And yeah, it was Vick.

I’ve also been a ref for youth hockey games if that means anything. It technically constitutes paid employment, if only 2 hrs/week.

Princeton (Universal High)
Yale (Universal High)
Dartmouth - Mid Reach
Duke - Mid Reach
Rice - Low Reach/Match
UVA - Match
Williams - Mid Reach
Wake Forest - Match

Everything seems good. Your EC’s seem a little generic, but you spent time in them which is a plus. You have good chances at Wake Forest, and, if you’re essay is excellent, Williams is a possibility.
