Hook: I was born in Korea and lived in Korea, then England, then back to Korea, then to America. Will that count as a 'diversity?'

Schools: Stanford Early Action
UC Berkeley
CalTech
MIT
Columbia Fu SCEA
Harvard
UCLA
UCSD
UCD
UCI
U Mich Ann Arbor
Cornell

If I apply chemical engineering to all of the above, how are my chances?

Stanford Early Action- reach-match maybe b/c of EA
UC Berkeley-reach
CalTech-reach
MIT- far reach
Columbia Fu SCEA-reach
Harvard-far reach
UCLA- match
UCSD-match/safety
UCD-match
UCI-match/safety
U Mich Ann Arbor (not familiar with school)
Cornell-reach/match

I am a little confused. You said your school has no AP but then you listed AP classes you are taking. Your EC are extremely weak for the schools you are looking at. Your diversity can help in a well written essay, but not a whole lot. Your GPA is fairly good but not great for harvard, MIT, etc... I think Stanford may be within your grasp because of EA. Other than that, I would think about the UC's and maybe go for an honors program if available.

I think his school in Korea had no APs, but his school in Cali does.

Central Perky is right.

geez I didn't think his ECs were THAT bad... if they are I'm doomed!!

Briguy, get a serious grip. Stanford a match? Because of EA? If that wasn't so sad it would be funny.

Stanford is a HUGE reach for an Asian international not to mention one with average SATs (for Stanford) and sub par ECs. I see no chance. That goes for Harvard, Caltech and MIT too.

Columbia, UCB and UCLA are big reaches too, but worth applying to.
The rest are matches.

Being Korean, no matter where you lived, is not a hook, you are an ORM. Your pool of competition as an Asian international is the hardest pool there is. Should you need financial aid, it becomes much worse.

Schools:
Stanford Early Action - NO
UC Berkeley - decent chance
CalTech - NO
MIT - NO
Columbia Fu SCEA - NO
Harvard - NO
UCLA - Good chance
UCSD - IN
UCD - IN
UCI - IN
U Mich Ann Arbor - good chance
Cornell - slight chance

Right, Thank you very much, you lot.
Any more replies or advices please?

askwise:

UCB/UCLA: Slight Reach (non-resident, Engineering)
UCSD: Match (non-resident, Engineering)
UCI/UCD: Safety
