Hey guys, I really dont know as much as you do about the way the US unis operate in terms of the acceptance process so I would like to ask for some advice.

So would they consider me? are there any limitations i could improve?

any1 can take a quick look?

Did you apply previously to the top U.S. universities to which you are considering transferring? If so, did you secure any acceptances from those colleges? Why did you choose to matriculate at UCL?

You’re probably not going to get too many responses since your situation is very specific. Most of us don’t have a very good handle on admissions statistics for foreign transfer students. You do appear to have a strong application.

You seem to be doing quite well at UCL. You should be prepared to answer the question: “Why do you want to transfer from UCL to University XYZ?” Hopefully, you have a compelling reason for the transfer.

Your best bet is to contact the admissions departments of the schools and submit your application. Although the acceptance rate for transfer students is very low, securing an acceptance is still in the realm of possibility. You can’t win if you don’t play. :-)

Good luck!

Hi! Thanks for the response. To clarify,
a) This is the first time I will be applying to the US
b) I am not applying as a transfer student but as a regular undergrad, which obviously means if I get accepted and decide to go, next year I will be starting as 1st year undergrad.

Would that change the situation? How would you view now my chances with those unis?
Thanks so much for the help m8 :)

I don’t get it.

If you’re already matriculating at college and will presumably finish one year of college prior to the start of the 2013-2014 academic year, why would you want to take the same application route as a high school student?

Essentially, you’d be losing a year.

Do international students often do this sort of thing?

Forgive my ignorance on the matter…

Well yes- I will be losing a year and I am willing to If am accepted into any of the unis I mentioned. That would not be a problem for me.
So if you were to judge me like any other highschooler, how would you feel about my app relating to the above unis?
Thanks again!

If I were an admissions officer at one of the universities in question, I would be a little puzzled by your willingness to lose a year. To be honest, I believe that once you formally enroll in college as a full-time student that precludes you from applying as a “high school” applicant. I could be wrong about this, though.

I’d advise you to make the most of your college experience at UCL. Consider applying as a transfer student…if you have a compelling reason. Good luck!
