Hi there! I too was waitlisted last year-- and I’m also an English major.
I think you have a good shot! I am not OOS, but I do know that (at least for freshmen) it’s a lot more difficult for those applying, as I am sure you were aware. I don’t know what your test scores were like, but with that GPA, HS track record, and those ECs, I would be very surprised if you weren’t admitted!
Thanks so much! I had heard it is harder for OOS I forgot my test scores! My SAT was a 2150, SAT II Literature was a 740 and SAT II US History was a 690, ACT was a 32 and 11 on the essay.
For APs I had:
5 on US History
4 on Stat
4 on World History
4 on Lang
5 on US Gov
3 on Spanish
5 on Calc AB
5 on Lit
5 on Bio
Thanks again for your input
Clearly you took rigorous courses in HS and did extremely well on your standarized tests. It’s hard to imagine you were waitlisted but I suppose that’s where the nuances of OOS admittance may come in (which, again, I wouldn’t be familiar with and you might benefit from commentary from someone who is). Your college GPA looks great, is above their recommended 3.5+, and you’re even in an honors program. Like I said, I’d be extremely surprised if they didn’t admit you this time! I think you’re right in the ballpark.
