Chances for transfer?

I'm looking to transfer to FSU for Fall 12. I have a 2.956 GPA according to the online GPA calculator the University provides. However I feel like I'm in a unique situation. I came into UNF this past year as a Freshman with 30 credits and a GPA of 3.25. The first semester I didn't do so well on my work and my GPA slipped down to a 2.8, but it will be a 2.956 once the final grades for this semster come out.

In high school I had a weight GPA of 3.8, scored an 1190/1600 and 1660/2400 on my SAT while being ranked 54/552 in my class.

Do I stand a shot at being accepted? I noticed on the website it says you must have a minimum 3.0 GPA for transfer. Is there any chance they will waive the requirement?

What is your major?

I doubt the 3.0 requirement would be waived. I say that because FSU receives many qualified transfer students that meet the requirements.

Currently my major is International Business at UNF. For my FSU application I applied for Economics.

Since Economics is listed as a limited access major, I don’t think they’re going to waive the 3.0 requirement. You also must meet all the pre-reqs for the major to be accepted as a transfer.

Sorry. I think it would be very difficult at this point.

I would recommend trying to salvage your GPA at UNF and try to complete an AA. Once you have an AA, it becomes easier to transfer to another school in Florida. Without an AA, you have to be extremely competitive and even then, it’s not guaranteed.

I spoke with admissions last week…It is significantly easier to transfer with an AA degree…GPA requirements for a transfer with an AA is a 2.0 not the usual 3.0. Sweet is right on that one, you’re better off completing your AA. Good Luck!
