Awards: Siemens-Westinghouse Competition semifinalist
James Scholar nominee at UIUC (That's the honors program here, I get accepted into it officially after this semester provided I get a 3.5 or higher, which I will.) Dean's List at UIUC. That's all the major ones that might count for something, I think...

Other stuff: classical fencing, piano for thirteen years, I'm native Russian from St. Petersburg, I speak the language fluently...that's about it.

If anyone has any suggestions/comments/idea of chances, I appreciate your input greatly!

Thanks.

what college within Cornell are you looking to transfer to?

Oh sorry, Arts and Sciences, as a physics major.

Hey. I am on the same boat as you. Also looking to transfer to Cornell from UIUC. (although I am applying to different college at Cornell.) By the way, u mind if I ask why u wanna transfer??

Arts and Science has a very low transfer acceptance rate....but your stats look great! Just make sure that in your application you make your reasons for transfer very good and very clear....I think you stand a great chance for admission. Good luck!

hey dewdrop87:

I know this question is silly. But, I am asking this question out of great anxiety. I was given GT option to ILR. I fulfilled all the requirements (taking all the classes, meeting gpa requirements, etc.). Is there still a possibility that I could end up being rejected?? I ask you this question since you seem to be very familiar and knowledgeable about transfer application processes. Thanks.

haha...no...that's the whole point of a guaranteed transfer :-)

as long as you meet all the requirements that were laid out for you and submit your forms on time...you're golden!

If you've got other general transfer questions...feel free to ask...I'm a transfer myself :-)

delivery man:

I just don't like the huge-public-school atmosphere here. I get the feeling that the vast majority of the student body just doesn't care about academics. Plus, Cornell was my top choice in HS, applied early decision and got rejected, now that I've gotten my act together I think I can actually make it in. I'm also applying to Stanford and MIT, though, and if I get into one of those places, they come before Cornell :-). Are you just applying to Cornell and nowhere else?

Goshamoossy:

Yeah, I am just applying to Cornell, since they are willing to give me acceptance. (I have a guaranteed transfer option) I do agree with most of your points for wishing to transfer. UIUC is definitely a big party school and its party atmosphere dwarfs the academic aspect of students' lives. I am pretty sure Stanford, Cornell, or MIT would give u better academic envrionment than UIUC....By the way, this is also the part of the reason I wanna get out of UIUC. It would be interesting if we both end up at Cornell starting next semester. GL!!
